Project managers and the project management team are expected to direct the performance of planned project activities and manage organizational and technical interfaces in the project. Project work requires a clear review of the impacts that will emerge from all project changes and implementation of all the approved changes include corrective action, repair of defects, and preventive action. I disagree with my manager’s comments that a good management plan does not require any changes because a good project manager must ensure that the project is completed according to plan.

A change request is useful in the available project works. Any project stakeholder can request a change regardless of the modifications that will emerge in the project schedule, scope, budget, quality, procedure, and results. To ensure that my manager agrees with changes when they occur, I will ensure that change requests are scheduled and implemented by the team assigned to the project. I will also convince him these changes are expected to impact various areas of the project or the management plan of the project (Evans, 2003).

With effective communication, change requests can be initiated in the project and the recommended preventive or corrective actions processed using the Perform Integrated Change Control process. Change is inevitable, which makes some types of change control processes mandatory in all projects (Evans, 2003). The project management team and other stakeholders need to communicate to reduce the costs that the project change is likely to incur so that the project manager can accept the proposed changes.

The change management system is vital for a successful project because it defines the roles and activities for controlling and managing change in the project's execution. Management of the project scope throughout the life cycle of the project helps to effectively and efficiently engage stakeholders by presenting important information (Evans, 2003). The project life cycle stakeholders ensure that communications planning is performed in the early stages of the project when the plan is being developed. Management of communications is a significant contributor to information flow between the team running the project and the stakeholders. All aspects of communication, including the choice of appropriate methods, techniques, and methods, are identified in the project scope.

Project managers should ensure that there is significant project, team, and stakeholder communication in the project's development and execution. Effective communication plays a major role in building a bridge between different stakeholders with different organizational and cultural backgrounds, expertise levels, interests, and perspectives (Evans, 2003). Developing and implementing appropriate strategies of communication is crucial because it helps maintain effective stakeholder relationships. Therefore, the project manager should involve all stakeholders in the review of the project and all the project meetings.

Effective communication with the stakeholders will play a significant role in persuading the team, the project manager, and the organization to implement the necessary changes in the project for better results. Communication of the change management will be considered carefully by all stakeholders and team members (Izquierdo, 2020). After convincing the project manager, the changes will be announced, and a message will be sent to the organizational staff outlining the rationale of these changes and the expected benefits.

Conclusion

A good project manager should make sure that everything goes as planned in the project plans. However, some changes are inevitable, and they must be implemented in a project to reduce costs and future losses. Every project always requires some degree of change, either small or big. Depending on the severity of such changes, the team decides whether to have a full change management plan that will disrupt the proposed budget, time, and resource allocation, or the changes will only be some small alterations that will have little or no disruptions to the team.
