I am a Peruvian professional engineer whose family serves as the driving force to reach his dreams. I have had the chance to experience in my own personal life, how a challenge can be turned into an opportunity that with hard work and perseverance can be resulted in success. My education was always a challenge for my parents, because even in a deep economic crisis in Peru they turned that challenge into an opportunity that with hard work and perseverance they helped me and inspired to be become the Regional Manager in Latin American for a Global Company. Now, I am facing the same scenario once again; I see the challenge of pursuing a Master Degree of Science in Industrial Engineering in a different country than mine and dictated in a different language. However, the lesson has been learned already and with the combination of my interest in the program, my previous experience, my research interests and my long-term career goals I will definitely succeed in the Program and become a global professional in industrial engineering.
First of all, I would like to improve my professional skills in engineering in order to apply them to my job and also to the investigation about industrial air filtration. I would like to expand my professional network and become a global professional. My experience in the field of engineering suggests that, with rapid technology advancement, it has become vitally important to stay up-to-date with recent tendencies in process optimization, development and improvement of various systems, and analysis and synthesis, as well as to grow to the international scale and become a world-class specialist. The methodology practiced at Kansas State University and the well-recognized program of Air quality chemistry faculty strengthens my reassurance that my chosen program is what is needed for me to fulfill my plans.
Secondly, my previous experience allows me to state that I am genuinely keen on this field of studies and willing to fill in the job market niche offering highly-trained, advanced and developed theoretical and practical skills. I possess vast experience in gas turbine and trained in Siemens, Berlin. During this professional training in gas and vapor (Gas turbine manufacturing), I learned new material, as well as enriched my existing knowledge and expertise, and advanced my intercultural integrity skills. I also worked as Territorial Manager for 4 years in Camfil Latin America and as Commercial Manager of the Andean Region (Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Chile, and Colombia). I reached great revenue targets in the first 7 months in a 14 month deadline. Moreover, I provided continuous and effective leadership and guidance to the technicians and greatly developed my communication, leadership and team-working skills. I am now a Professional specialist in Generation of Energy in the energetic market in Peru with over 10 years of experience in the generation of energy, hydraulic and thermic. However, my experience has fallen more into hydraulic because it is the kind of energy produced in Peru. Therefore, I can confidently state that I am sure the program at K-State is in line with my vision to enter the job market and provide quality practical and theoretical skills in the industry.
Thirdly, my research interests are the following: Clean air, Air filtration, and fouling. I believe everyone has a right to breathe clean air whether in private or public buildings. In addition, I am interested in developing a new design of filters, for protection of the people and machines. Lastly, I am also interested in the study of the impact of particles less than 0.3 microns in Gas turbine blades (fouling). I believe, it would be highly beneficial and efficient to perform my research along with the professors and students of the Air quality chemistry faculty of K-State University, which I aim for.
Finally, my long-term career goals include becoming the Latin America Power System Manager. This position will allow me to perform engineering, global consulting in power generation. Consequently, I will be able to make a contribution to the progress of the campaign of human right to clean air.
With my family as my inspiration and a vast experience in the industry as my background, I aspire to attain a degree in industrial engineering at Kansas State University. Pursuing the course will enable me to utilize my experience to further my research goal which includes the campaign for universal right to clean air, air filtration, and the study of the impact of particles less than 0.3 microns in Gas turbine blades (fouling). , I am confident that I can greatly contribute to the studying process, advance my functional strengths, and enhance my academic and career development as a student of Kansas State University.
