The business field is quite broad, and it incorporates numerous job opportunities in both corporate and non-profit organizations. Individuals who take up business majors earn valuable skills and areas of knowledge that equip them to contribute to the success of business-oriented institutions (Profita 2). These individuals acquire the skill of thinking in numbers, alongside the ability to quantify various sets of data, the evaluation of financial impacts accruing from business decisions. Moreover, business majors get to employ figures to support their proposals (Profita 2). The schools of business teach people the ability to write clearly and concisely while crafting case analyses plus other business papers. Here, learners are also mentored into sharpening their teamwork skills as well as refine their presentation and leadership skills. Therefore, it can be noted that the business field bears an extensive scope besides instilling technical abilities and knowledge. Lastly, individuals within the business field earn the skills to dissect business problems and provide recommended solutions. Through this, these individuals sharpen their critical thinking and analytical skills.
Most importantly, they learn to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and represent the data through presentations and reports (Profita 2). The business field also equips individuals with an understanding of business law and ethics, which are critical perspectives in any organization. Besides, business majors get to comprehend the global perspective of business, and they get to appreciate the value of diversity by studying business activities in other cultures. Some of the jobs related to the business field include accountant, management consultant, social media manager, financial analyst, actuary, college admissions representative, business teacher, business reporter, corporate attorney, healthcare administrator, among others.
As a sales specialist in Pandora, I was given specific responsibilities and duties that were entirely business-oriented. Pandora has a high accord for offering quality products and services. The company, therefore, made sure to vet its employees during the recruitment process carefully. The company also ensured proper delegation of duties that were categorically outlined before entering into a contract. First, I was tasked with creating and developing sales strategies to enhance overall growth in the firm. In business, sales form part of the marketing process. Products/services need to sell in the market successfully; therefore, as a sales specialist, I needed to invoke the necessary strategies to conquer the market alongside overcoming challenges faced along the way. Marketing strategies are found under a section of business components (Homburg et al. 45). Effective strategies are essential for the success of the company. Secondly, I was in charge of analyzing, evaluating, and assessing sales territories for company products/services. As mentioned in the elaboration of a business field, it is evident that the skills to critically analyze, evaluate, and assess a market situation are essential (Better Team 1). Most of the business decisions made in Pandora had to be results-oriented.
Failure to master these skills would have been detrimental to the success of the business. These skills bear a firm connection to the business world, and they were smoothly applicable within the firm. Thirdly, I had to provide recommendations on improvements or changes as appropriate to the company's sales policies. The world of business is for smart thinkers. Being the sales specialist, I had to offer alterations or improvements in the firm's sales policies where it was wrongly done or never yielding expected results. Like Pandora, the world of business is ever restructuring, and it presents challenges that need new solutions. It was upon me in the business field to showcase my creativity and find solutions to sales issues within the company. Fourthly, I was tasked with determining and setting goals/objectives for the sales representatives in the firm. Planning is an essential aspect of the business field. A business becomes successful whenever it incorporates systematic planning. Therefore, as the sales specialist, I needed to outline the desired goals and objectives to be achieved by my team. This had to be achieved based on the targets of the company, and so analytical strategizing of goals was necessary. Sales targets had to be achieved from the retails, which included product mix and volume. Setting measurable and achievable goals is one of the essential qualities of a person in the business field. Being the sales specialist, I initiated a sense of direction for my team towards attaining the desired levels of sales in the company stores. I was also on the lead of supporting and mentoring sales representatives towards achieving target sales of the firm. To do that, any business needs to monitor the performance of its workers. For the sales department, it was upon me to establish key performance indicators among my team members. My position was managerial in some way because it involved rectifying mistakes, motivating workers, and counseling workers towards the right approaches to implement in their sale of merchandise. It is important to note how management is the foundation of any given firm.
Nonetheless, at Pandora, I was the one preparing sales and marketing budgets. As mentioned in the introduction, the business world involves playing with figures. The business needs to compute its sales to determine profit or loss incurred. Calculations involved are vital indicators of the performance of the business. The budget-making process in Pandora was crucial because it ensured the rightful allocation of funds to avoid overspending. Pandora needed to realize its financial position and how to maximize on the limited available resources. This is indeed a fundamental goal of business; to minimize cost and maximize profits. Besides, I undertook the analysis of market trends for the firm's merchandise. The business world entails making predictions of the market. Market trends and demands significantly govern the decisions to be made by a company. It was upon me to analyze former and current market trends based on the figures as well as patterns to forecast the future trends in the market. Fashion keeps taking new forms, so is the market. As such, I had to critically analyze all factors influencing the trend of the market at any given time and create a list of the key indicators. This helped in creating readjustments in the merchandise, therefore, providing opportunities to capitalize on the perfect market days and escape avoidable losses from unwanted merchandise in the stores. Business is all about precaution, and this can be achieved through strategic marketing.
My other employment was that of a tutor in economics. Economics is a broad field in business. It incorporates theories and quantitative methods to analyze business entities as well as the factors complementing the diversity of an organization. Moreover, it focuses on the structures and relationships of the company regarding labor, capital, and the market. As an economics tutor, the responsibilities and duties were wholly parallel with the business field. The most fundamental role was teaching students. It involved assisting students in developing skills and mastering the economics theories as well as understand their applications in real life. Besides teaching, I had the privilege to mentor and coach the students on the essential principles of economics, such as global macroeconomics and microeconomics alongside public policy. Being a tutor in economics proves how one is excellent in business majors (Profita 3). To be an effective tutor, it required me to possess a broad-based knowledge in marketing, finance, management, and accounting. It was also essential for me to possess excellent verbal communication as well as interpersonal skills, which have proved mandatory in the world of business. These skills were necessary to engage students while sharing knowledge with them. I achieved success as an economics tutor through adequate planning and giving great lessons to the students.
As such, I needed to draw extensive approaches to issuing instructions to students as mastered in my years of schooling. Being an economics tutor significantly escalated my understanding and perception of the business world. Through the teaching of financial analysis and report writing, the students became well-equipped to visualize and solve economics issues within a business entity. Financial analysis involves juggling with the figures, and this is one of the elements of the business field. Also, management theories are crucial for students to understand and relate to the outside business world. Management is an essential aspect in a given business entity, and as the tutor, I was expected to have excellent mastery of the content to smoothly pass it over to the future business persons (Baye et al. 2). I also taught accounting, which is needed to assess the performance of a business with regard to the available resources. Accounting ensures accountability within a firm, and this is a vital component in the business field. It is evident that being an economics tutor is directly related to the business field because it purely involved teaching the theories and principles of economics, and explaining how these can be applied in the real business world.
