Introduction

The project aims to serve all 500 homes in a small neighborhood. Currently, only six homes have internet access, and all are content with our services. This section of the paper discusses a proposal regarding delivering internet access with a logical rationale to all 500 homes. The rural area holds many young farmers and energetic children and youth who are hungry for education. Other than helping the area become more modernized, a well-built generation of new innovators could emerge.

Geographic Dispersion

Griliches (2010) emphasizes on the geographic dispersion of the clients to adopt new technologies. With this, it is essential to note that location-related factors were considered when distributing network access to this small neighborhood in the rural area. Some areas have low densities, thus requiring a minimum scale (Griliches, 2010). Dense areas contain more suppliers compared to the less dense areas. These differences affect the costs and benefits, as well as demand. In this case, the region has a high market structure.

A private network of dedicated internet access was created and planned to be distributed to the 500 homes in the small neighborhood (Vanderpool, 2013). The reliable internet access is a private and consistent connection with various components independent from one another, such as the ISP interface and the router as a separate device. We will provide our clients with these logical components, including the Ethernet and DSL/cable modem, at their homes for instant internet access. The families will be provided with DSL through a fiber optic system converted to internet access (Vanderpool, 2013). This way, they are ensured of high connectivity and speeds.

To follow up on the six homes' satisfaction that already has internet access, we surveyed them (Harcourt et al., 2020). The method used was questionnaires, where we asked questions explicitly related to their satisfaction with the existing internet services. Among them, a total of about 80% were mostly satisfied with the services, 15% were not confident about the benefits due to slow speed and shortage of personal computers as well as smart television (Harcourt et al., 2020). The other 5% were not entirely familiar with the services provided.

Uploading Speeds

Using the information above, clients can now comfortably enjoy uploading speeds that are just as fast as the downloads at any time of the day. What is more, they can access high and stable rates that range from fast 5Mbps to 10Mbps (Harcourt et al., 2020). This cost is relatively inexpensive, paying between 10$-35$ only. The literacy levels are standard in this area; therefore, it is easier to educate the community about technology, ICT, and its importance, at least once per week in the next four weeks (Harcourt et al., 2020). The need for training programs will begin effective immediately.

Following the assumption of having homes that cannot afford internet access, it is essential to use a solar cyber café where the community members can share internet access in a wide range (International Telecommunication Union, 2020). This way, they will be motivated and encouraged to get one in their own homes. The community will be inspired to learn new ways of doing farming since it is most common among the aged and young farmers. The students can also have their learning in a comfortable setting where internet access is not a problem, and connect with their teachers from a distance.

Accessing the internet in this area is not enough. A program of distributing equipment such as TV, computers, photocopiers, modem and a scanner to the cyber will be done. A few months’ startup cost as well as the field workers will aid in providing this technical support. It is important so that the community enjoys sustainable and efficient access provision, and can also work as a way to lure the community in using the internet service provided.

Conclusion

Many people in rural areas have been waiting for technological advancements for a long time, welcoming new businesses' possibilities, further information, and new types of specialized tools used at home. Now that it is here, its benefits can be enjoyed even to those with relatively low incomes. This means that the price of internet access has to be humble enough at the low-income levels and high enough to yield profits for service providers. Therefore, the gap between demand and supply (or costs) will need to be done by reductions in the future. However, the distribution of internet access to the community was the main list and is what this paper has exclusively expounded. With the findings and recommendations given, the area can now enjoy internet access that is highly likely to be sustainable and reliable.
