Introduction
The continuous transformation in the aviation industry has significant advantages to both travelers and the company itself. From the narrow-body aircraft we can, we can say that bigger is not at all times better since these aircraft are all the rage in commercial aviation today. A significant transformation can be seen with the introduction of narrow-body long-haul aircraft such as A321LR and CS300 into the industry. This paper will state the aviation issues, discuss the significances and ways through which the opening of the new long-haul narrow-bodied plane has impacted the airline and airport industry.
State the Issue
Airline industry figures demonstrate that long-haul narrow-body planes are increasingly becoming popular with aviation. There are various reasons why this change in tactic is occurring, and the first one is the complete development in air traffic. Certainly, the statistics from the International Civil Aviation Organization show that the number of passengers has greatly increased over the past two decades from 1.467 billion passengers in 1998 to 3.979 billion the year 2017 (Hunt and Truong 2019). This swift evolution in air transport has given the industry a challenge to look for the current solutions to the proceeding encounter of satisfying customer demand producing increased competence in a wide competitive market. This has to the development of planes such as A321LRand CS300.
The aviation industry is infamous for snags in upholding profit boundaries amid some external and internal factors that continually impend to throw the industry off balance. Starting from the increasing competition and passenger demands, to union strikes and labor deficits, to fuel price fluctuations, air transport decision-makers should regularly adjust their tactics and establishing new methods to cut costs and raise revenue so that it can remain strong. Low-budget and large carriers plane similar are facing mounting difficulties worldwide to sustain margins for profit while facing several external factors that are causing disruption. As there is a continuous rise in labor demand in the aviation industry, employees are in turn requesting more benefits and higher salaries. From budget transporters such as Ryan Air to United and France, companies are facing pressure for increasing wages and labor union raids across the board (Theophilus et al.2017). Since air transport has been making gradual profits, the employees have received market power, thus pushing up cost labor. However much the air transport companies are constantly bringing new methods to drive down issues on wages, increase workloads and cut benefits, the employees are constantly fighting for these injustices intending to win fair pay.
Thought the current workers are persistently demanding for increased salary, several air transport companies are struggling to get talent at all, especially while looking for viable pilots. There has been a crucial disruption in route cancellation form resulting from the despairing shortage. And due to the deficiency, pilots also succumb to less flexibility and demanding schedule. Additionally, the aviation industry is also greatly affected by price fluctuation in oil (Theophilus et al.2017). Low oil costs of course signify lower charges for airlines. However, this can change at any minute causing great influence of higher fuel costs to companies that verge on jet fuel such as European carriers.
Significance of New Long-Haul Narrow-Bodied Aircrafts
The A321LR and CS300 have demonstrated that the systematic investments and transformations have long-term influences which will outdo short-term price-cutting actions. This is because, while the prices of these new aircraft are essential, the controls are even more significant. Following the International Air Transport Association, each current generation of aircraft is on average twenty percent more fuel effective than replaceable models. The A321LR is the most effective narrow-body aircraft currently, and it might continue to be in the few years to come. In comparison to the A320 model, the A321 model seems to be a ten percent lower charge decrease, and the 321LR is a 20 percent lower charge reduction. Apart from cost savings, modern narrow-body aircraft are advantageous in the sense that they are environment friendly (Baxter, Srisaeng and Wild 2018). Besides, flying appropriateness also forms a positive product sentiment between the travelers and the airline industry. A321LR removes the least fuel burn when it comes to noise and carbon emission, and this demonstrates how the present generation is more concerned for environment conservation than previous generations.
How Long-Haul Narrow-Bodies Impact Air Transport Today
Moreover, with a spacious cabin and low operational cost, new narrow-body aircraft enable passengers with lower fares to experience a comfortable and high-quality flight. This offers the industry an added advantage since more customers will be willing to travel via current narrow-body aircraft. Besides, these aircraft are able profitably to operate in thin, unjustifiable markets across a full spectrum of series and this makes it outstand the previous generation. Most of the narrow-body aircraft are designed for over one hundred passenger markets and offer both better passenger experience and ultimate operational competences for airlines. They have bigger windows, a quieter flight, and broader seats which provides the best customer experience. With decreased fuel burn, long-haul narrow-bodied aircraft offer the best which the aviation industry has to produce (Will et al. 2017). Furthermore, due to technological advances, these aircraft can travel over longer distances such as from the west coast of the United States to Hawaii, and this implies that customers do not have to change planes while moving much longer voyages.
How Long-Haul Narrow-Bodies Will Impact the Development of the Industry in the Future
The long-haul narrow-body aircraft have increased advantages over the previous generation, such as reduced cost and fuel competence as well as environmental conservation. These characteristics enable it to effectively compete over twice-body body aircraft, and as a result, most airline industries will continue producing such aircraft. The smaller capacity and fuel efficiency make these aircrafts a universal instrument for long-haul flights to other airports having less demand. In the meantime, the expected A220s that will be produced in the coming years might be used to present the air transport much-awaited transatlantic voyages (Hunt and Truong, 2019). As more fuel-competent narrow-body aircraft are being manufactured and placed into operation, JetBlue will be informed to observe the long-haul approach air transport take, particularly as it relates to the reduced-cost full-service model.
Besides, the airline manufacturers have swiftly caught on to its rapid popularity, with Airbus company had already laid plans to manufacture roughly sixty A320LR series jets monthly, as well Boeing also obliging to the same number of 737MAX planes. The innovative being used by jetliners makes it easier for the aviation industries to maneuver a single-aisle plane on longer routes (Will et al.2017). Both Boeing and Airbus producers have attracted several orders for the two widely popular narrow-body aircraft, and in consideration of these jets’ advantages, this trend might continue.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the airline industry has and will continue to experience a steady increase in its operation and function in recent years due to the technological advances and introduction of narrow-body long distances aircraft. The narrow body's aircraft offer customers a fair transport cost and comfortable traveling experience making more people prefer these aircraft wide-bodies. Besides, these aircraft also use reduced fuel capacity and burn fuels effectively making them environmentally friendly and cost-effective when it comes to maintenance. Moreover, the long-haul narrow-bodied plane will continue to expand in the future since it also provides long distances air transports in most states providing more revenues.
