Science has remained to be one of the most common yet useful topics that we interact with routinely. While most of the emphasis on science is projected on learning the most significant phenomenon in the science field, it is fascinating to understand that the spectrum of science is far more diverse than what one can imagine. The world of science is like an accident with endless experiments to help draw conclusions and inferences of numerous research topics. Some of the issues such as biology, strongly call for the assessment of living and nonliving organisms, while physics chemistry, and astronomy, strongly focus on different concepts of matter (Hewitt et al., 2014). Nevertheless, the entire science class has proved to be one of the essential classes that I have attended. Thus, the essay seeks to elucidate the concepts learned from the science class and how it has changed the entire approach towards worldly things.

Biology

It is common to understand that children will automatically resemble one of their parents, as part of their characteristics. However, what we fail to understand is that every child has a set of uniquely identified features that are slightly different from their parent. Never the less, children will inherit many traits from their parents. However, to understand how this concept works, Gregor Mendel’s law unveils the complex topic of genetics (Hewitt et al., 2014). Therefore, the class has offered a comprehensive understanding of how genetics work, why children may lack some of the traits that are present in their parents, but yet they possess a series of essential characteristics from the parents.

The biology class has offered useful background concepts regarding the functionality of genes, their importance, and how they determine different ideas that we ponder about trying to understand what causes them to become what they are. For instance, from the class reading, I have understood the possibility of a parent with blue eyes having the likelihood of a child with brown eyes (Hewitt et al., 2014). While this seemed so unrealistic, I came to understand that some of the traits may not be present in the parent, but instead is inherited from the grandparents. Therefore, understanding this concept allowed understanding how the complex world of biology operates. The biology class has offered competent feedbacks on why we look like our parents in some ways while we do not resemble then in others.

Chemistry

The world we live in is becoming more contaminated, as the world is becoming more industrial. Therefore, the quest to meet the demand of the increasing population has forced many industries to fasten their boots, when it comes to the production sector. Never the less, the increased production has subjected the world into becoming one of the most polluted areas in the universe (Hewitt et al., 2014). As a result, chemistry is playing a useful concept in ensuring that every inch of pollution is slowly treated before it has been exposed to the environment. Moreover, the use of chemistry class has offered a different understanding of how we can employ chemistry concepts in producing eco-friendly, biodegradable products, to avoid environmental pollution and degradation. While the rich chemistry knowledge on the reaction of substances remains a theoretical concept that was less effective during the study, the idea is more effective in a real-life situation, such as applying the knowledge in understanding how to make effective disposal of products to avoid disasters.

Chemistry has influenced our lives in different profound ways, and it will always continue to do so in the future. The elemental composition of any element is built based on an atom, which remains to be one of the most common factors that give life to every aspect. Therefore, understanding this concept gives us a concrete understanding of what elements may be suitable for construction and what may not be ideal for construction use (Hewitt et al., 2014). Thus, chemistry class has provided a basic understanding of how elements may interact, and their possible outcomes.

What I Learned in the Science Class

Science is the bedrock of the universe, ranging from the existence of the early traces of human life. Therefore, science has evolved to be one of the most used disciples to help elaborate on the true nature of the Earth and its content (Hewitt et al., 2014). Ranging from biology to the astronomic class science has proved numerous questions that had been lingering in my mind since the first enrolment in the class. Every subject in the science class is composed of a set of principles, which define the item. However, despite the variation of the principles in each science subject, there is a closer inter-relationship between the science subjects, which creates a common interlinking amongst the science subjects. As a result, this provided a necessary avenue to study different scientific concepts while applying different principles.

On the one hand, Science has provided a concrete understanding of how the human body works, and how tinny body elements such as molecules comprise the effective functioning of the cell. Therefore, this gives a concrete understanding of different types of cells and how they are formed. Thus, it helps in understanding why other parts of the body, such as muscles, contain more active cells than the other components (Hewitt et al., 2014). As a result, there are several underlying factors, which I was able to discover, through attending the science class. On the other hand, science has created a sufficient description of environment conservation, through understanding the principles of chemistry, and how components react with one another. While this concept may seem to be more theoretical than practice, chemistry has offered practical insights in understanding the consequences of not adequately addressing principles of chemistry, and the effects we might obtain from the

One of the useful concepts in science that I learned was how the human body effectively converts energy to be used in the rest of the body from what we consume. The energy breakdown process offers a better understanding of the amount of energy each food we consume can have. Therefore, through understanding this concept, it becomes easier to understand when certain foods can be suitable for consumption.

Physics

Physics gives a better understanding of how friction and atmospheric pressure are essential in protecting the Earth from falling meteors that graze Earth’s atmosphere. The lightning speed that causes a projectile to move in a projectile direction causes the giant meteors to disintegrate, hence decreasing as tiny particles, which do not pose significant harm to Earth (Hewitt et al., 2014). Thus, science provides a convincing concept, to help understand why the objects beyond our atmosphere do not experience a higher degree of atmospheric pressure, pulling them to the center of the Earth.

How it has Changed Your Views on Worldly Things

Mendel’s law on genetics has entirely rewritten the most cumbersome question that I have been pondering about in the science class regarding the appearance of different traits on children that do not resemble parent traits (Hewitt et al., 2014). The variation of features, and inheriting of the parental characteristics, serves as a blueprint of explaining how people may be so different, despite being closely related. The concept of genes has entirely changed my approach in understanding why parents may have a child with traits that none of them possesses, yet the characters are present in one of the family members.

Mendel’s law in genetics has by fare led to the invention of new and more reliable genes, which are effective than the common genes. The class has provided an opportunity to explore the useful application of genes and how they have been used to produce genetically modified organisms (Hewitt et al., 2014). Therefore, this has offered a better understanding of why some plants are more drought-resistant, while other dairy animals produce higher volumes of milk due to GMOs.

How your Understanding Changed

Science relies heavily on facts more than a theoretical approach to justify their hypothesis. As a result, science highly depends on proven sets of the experiment to support both past and future studies. For instance, the field of genetic modification, which is becoming a common trend to help produce a higher quantity of production in agriculture products, depends on understanding the concept behind genetics. Therefore, this research highly makes greater use of Mendel’s findings, which have been utilized by numerous scientists across the globe to help justify or prove the effectiveness of GMOs (Hewitt et al., 2014). In the bottom line, science has formed the backbone of humans and their environment. Therefore, science has been used as a discipline of improving the human’s environment, through coordinating adequate studies to help justify every step-in human life, before it is adopted and put in action for social benefit.
