The health industry has federal and organizational health policies that act as a guide to health practitioners in their work. The presence of policies ensures the strict following of set laws to promote safety, compliance, and provision of quality services (Bayer et al., 2019). Besides, the presence of policies helps organizations confirm the employees' qualification levels and ensure their placement is according to the course a practitioner took during his/her training. Since organizations are responsible for their staff, the presence of policies ensures that a company trains its employees and informs them of their responsibilities. Health policies for both state/federal, and organizational policies help ensure that the organizations offering health care services satisfy all the requirements (Teitelbaum, & Wilensky, 2016). Therefore, organizations have the required accreditations and statutes before offering any services.
Developing a deeper understanding of the policy creation, implementation, and assessment process is vital to boost my growth in the healthcare industry. Understanding health policy will help me identify the required accreditations for every level as a practitioner; thus, act as a root to refining my expertise, in turn, improve your professional practice (Bayer et al., 2019). Besides, understanding the health policies in-depth will help me offer quality services without breaking any rules and following the set procedures. The better a health practitioner is at implementing policies, the easier it is to offer quality services.
The strict requirement of always following the health policies creates a challenge when providing treatment to patient requiring emergency services involves breaking the rules (Boufford et al., 2002). Through interacting with patients, complaints increased, involving instances where some individuals lost their lives due to the need to follow policies before offering services. I will challenge and question health policies to ask for a loophole in following policies and procedures when dealing with patients requiring emergency services as I advance in my career (Teitelbaum, & Wilensky, 2016). Therefore, to stay up-to-date on state and federal health policy, I follow updates from the Public Health Service (PHS). The National Association of Health Data Organizations (NAHDO), the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR), and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) also provide me with necessary information.
