Creation mandate refers to an injunction which is found in Genesis 1:28. In this injunction, after God created the universe and all that is seen in it, He ascribes to the humankind the responsibilities of ruling subduing and filling the earth. Creation mandate has been attributed to serving as the basis among the Jewish and Christian individuals for all ways of the cultural activities: scientific inquiry, literary exploration, conservation of the environment and economic engagement. The understanding of the purpose of God for business usually comes by developing an understanding of the mission that God has for humans which are outlined in the Genesis writings. Broadly, the business purpose is typically found within the context including the life's purpose. Being a relational being, God frequently chooses relating to man and endow people with social needs and abilities. The business core purpose entails creation mandates of creativity and provision that are found in the Genesis. This paper will discuss central tenets of the creation mandate, role of innovation and creativity and technology in creation mandate, and purpose and call to business as seen in the creation mandate of Genesis 1-2
Main Tenets of the Creation Mandate
The following includes the main tenets of the Creation mandate given by God to humanity as they might relate to business. The first tenet of creation mandate is that God gave individuals the ruling role. When providing humankind with the ruling position, God also affirmed the work value as being the critical creation stewards (Smith, 2010). The other major tenet of the creation mandate provided by God to humanity that may relate to business is that God invited human being to engage in the creative activities of God. In this tenet of creation mandate, God expects all humankind to become fruitful, fill the universe and assume the role of subduing the earth. The activities of women and men were to guard, preserve as well as taking care of God's creation. The other major tenet from the creation mandate given to humanity that may relate to business is that God provided women and men with freedom of boundaries. God emphasized that humankind should feel free in all that they do on the earth as long as it is not causing harm to the environment or other beings.
The central tenets of the Creation mandate given by God to humankind as they might relate to business affirm the pleasing activity of God. God was the one who mandated work and was intended to offer joy and satisfaction (Borgman, 2001). When humanity participates in work, it means that it gives opportunities for expressing creativity inherent in the human beings which illustrates God's image. Business is viewed as a primary venue form which individuals contribute alongside God in the ongoing work of creation of God. The creation mandate affirms relationship. God created humanity as a result of the desire of establishing a relationship with the man. Therefore, in the process of building the type of individuals that God would like to relate, God used His image to imprint human beings. God entrusted humankind with the causality dignity and provided them with the responsibility of stewardship for creation.
Role of Innovation and Creativity and Technology in Creation Mandate
God in the beginning ordered and created His universe to serve and function in all His purposes. The act of concluding of the ordering of the earth greatly concerned man's creation as the man was made in a unique way using the image of God. God brought the existence of the universe and saw the need of extending the attributes of the world to humankind. The qualities that were extended to the humanity most certainly entailed the essence of humanity as consciousness, spiritual beings, the moral freedom capacity.
Most importantly, the attributes included the ability of humans to create. While individuals who were made using God's image, people are normally given the ability to create which help in bringing order and function in situations that have chaos and any disorderly way. Humanity can form as a result of having the forming ability which is God-given.
The practical outcome of the creativity of humankind is known as technology. Therefore, a technology represents overflow of individuals' creative activity and the creative activity typically is normally tied to who humankind is representing the image of God in the earth. God provided humanity with the tasks of cultural formation. People normally fulfill this particular mandate while they develop the natural universe which attains the subduing the earth mandate. Humankind can achieve the mandate of their existence as the bearers of God's image whenever they invest in several activities such as building infrastructure which all needs technology (Hood, Frierson, & Hopson, 2005). Therefore technology should not be viewed as being a modern type of invention; technology is an important aspect of the life of human beings who are made using God's image.
Technology may be defined as being the creative activities involving the utilization of tools in the shaping of the creation of God for several practical purposes. Creativity and innovation work usually gets beyond the self-production which people may attain by themselves. The institutions, organizations and corporative structures are part f design by God. They present different innovative and creative ways that humans use in organizing their lives together and hence participating in the purposes of God concerning creation and humankind. They usually maintain order in society and facilitate the creative activity of God. Humankind participating in business represents participants in term of spirit in the God's work that is redemptive.
The understanding of the purpose of God for business frequently comes by developing an understanding of the purpose that God has for humans which are outlined in the Genesis writings (Lurie, 2000). Broadly, the business purpose is typically found within the context including the life's purpose. Being a relational being, God frequently chooses relating to man and endow people with social needs and abilities. The business core purpose entails creation mandates of creativity and provision that are found in the Genesis.
Purpose and Call to Business As Seen In the Creation Mandate of Genesis 1-2
The people's calling in the business activities is viewed as a holy calling. It includes God typically, individuals made using God's resources and image. Individuals may freely depend on God's spirit to provide innovative abilities, creativity, wisdom, competence and compassion for their involvement in business activities while they fulfill the redemptive purposes of God. The manner in which individuals utilize technology is what determines whether technology is bad or good. Humankind should strive to use technology as a good gift which is from God to fulfill the essential functions of human beings as being image bearers.
The formulating of the role of business usually makes specific services and products become produced under an important consideration. When the humanity is formulating a given business, they will consider whether the services and products that they intend to create are in accordance to what Go would like to be made available to the world at today's life. It is crucial to extend the understanding of the mandate of creation to the process of formulating businesses. In given places and time, faithful obedience to the values of God's kingdom may require that individuals should invest less of their aggregate capital in the production of services and products that are likely to cause harm to human beings.
Businesses usually are not confined to, nor owned by a given group. Businesses represent public properties. In this manner, businesses take on their life. The businesses become principalities and powers to become reckoned with. Thus God usually cares about how people function within a business and the implications and acts of the business itself (Habel & Wurst, 2000). When the label of powers and principalities applies, it appears that the businesses are wholes that are greater than the individuals who are at work with them. The role of business is enabling humankind to glorify as well as participating in innovative and creative activities. This is deduced from the fact that humanity was designed to help in establishing a relationship with God, tee human beings were intended to become interdependent and that people typically have different levels of creativity and innovation depending on their abilities and gifts. Bringing of people together into the productive businesses acts as a collection of different gifts and abilities to accomplish the task beyond what one individual can attain.
The foundation of thinking about the technology used in today's business according to Genesis creation is that after God created material world, God pronounced the material world as being good. God portrayed Himself as the ultimate superpower being which enables the attainment of human technology since He shaped all materials of the earth into the wonderful inert and living things which surround human beings. According to Wolters, (2005), God demonstrated the act of creating new things from the earth as being inherently good. Genesis has been considered as the cultural mandate since it illustrates the position of human beings in the creation and it calls humankind to use innovative and creative ways in working with the things which have been made by God. Human beings are expected to use technology excellently to achieve ruling over, reshaping, unfolding, ordering and developing the potential that God has given them. Developing and facilitating of the society at all levels (global, local, and corporate) through the creation of trust and practicing of responsible citizenship in support of as well as participation in the current works of various social institutions such as government, religion, and education.
In conclusion, when describing God's creation of humanity using his image and the equipping of the humankind to have the ability to live following that image. After God created the first woman and man, he stated the intentions he had: Multiply and be fruitful, subdue the earth and fill the earth. By extension, these commanding the creation mandate would apply to other human beings who would follow. Human beings should work through including creativity and innovative ways in the making of the creation of God pay tribute as well as making the earth's resources useful in benefiting and causing joy to individuals. Technology represents the overflow of individuals' creative activity, and the creative activity is usually tied to who humankind is representing the image of God in the earth. God provided humanity with the tasks of cultural formation.
