In this article, Walpole describes the landscape gardens in England. In his book, he explains how England had adopted the modern and natural styles of laying the gardens. There is design incorporated in the way the people laid out their gardens. The gardens had a culmination of garden design. The paintings are what made the gardens unique and modern. In the essay, William Kent, an actor in the article who leaped one of the gardens' fence, describes it as all nature. His successor, Lancelot Brown, tells the gardens as formal, geometrical, and regular gardens. The assumption made by the writer of the article was that the English landscape garden was the result of the growth and development of the political liberties of Britain.

This modern way of laying out gardens was better than the formal French way of designing gardens as per this article. Architectural perspective refers to a view from a given fixed viewpoint.
