Our school's football coach Mr. Thompson is very energetic. He enjoys coaching and keeps time during his work. Since he is a trainer, he makes sure that all students abide by the rules of soccer. Due to his strictness in time, students sometimes find him in the field. Mr. Thompson does not like lazing around, and if any of his trainees looks lazy or slow, he reprimands them immediately. Most of his trainees end up becoming the best footballers even after school. Mr. Thompson is a charismatic man, and in my observations, he seems to be a nice person. Although I have not met him on many occasions, I have had the times with him to understand the kind of person he is. From his devotion to training the soccer team to his energetic and charismatic nature, I have come to realize that he is a good coach our school can have. From my observation, Mr. Thompson seemed like a nice person, making it easier for me to approach him. His ever-smiling face made it easier for me to come to him compared to other coaches. Although I am not a game person, I decided to pick him to earn about coaches and the nature of their work. Interviewing Mr. Thompson is, therefore, among the best memories I will have of school.
Many schools have coaches in different games. These coaches train students about specific games and how they should handle the games. Mr. Thompson is a coach at my school. He instructs the students' soccer team, where other coaches assist him. During my interview with him, I had to ask different questions about his career. From the interview, I learned a lot about him, which made me understand why people might like football that much. Mr. Thomas Thompson was born in Texas in 1974. He was raised by a single mother and has never known his father. He began his career when he was twenty years old and realized he had an interest in football. He went to the University of Texas, where he graduated with a degree in sports science. Since then, Mr. Thompson began his career as a coach in different schools. In the schools that he thought, there was an outstanding performance. Mr. Thompson is also known to have trained several famous footballers, as he explains. He came to this school five years ago as a coach and has since been recognized as the school's best coach. His training is fascinating to watch because he is full of humor during the whole session. Most importantly, he does not discriminate his trainees, as seen from most of his sessions. Since he began coaching, Thompson says he has taught six schools and has spent more than fifteen years practicing coaching.
Thompson's most significant accomplishments as a coach come in different situations. For instance, a coach is supposed to be a trainer. And therefore, most of his achievements as a trainer are when his team performs better. He explains that when his students follow what he teaches and practice in the field, that is also an accomplishment. Mr. Thomas says that he has accomplished different things over the years. Firstly, as a coach, most of his students have continued with a football career, which has taken them far. Secondly, he says he has accomplished making students fit despite making them laugh during training sessions. He has accomplished different things that many coaches might fail to achieve in a short period. He also says his accomplishment not only lies in students performing better in games but also in students' interest. As a coach, Thompson says his biggest disappointment is when his students fail to understand or apply their actual game teachings. He also says he gets disappointed when his students do not behave appropriately during a play. Since teams need to be disciplined and organized, Mr. Thompson says he gets disappointed when students fail to follow these rules. Since he is the coach and is expected to go with students to a field, he says that students need to be disciplined at all times.
Thompsons' coaching goals are that students apply what he taught them so that they can perform. Although there is winning and losing, winning should be in players' minds, as Thompson explains. He says that his goals are to produce the best players the country has ever had. Making the best players will improve a school's game performance and his legacy as a coach. His short term coaching goals are to apply what he taught them during training to the field.
Thompson's strength as a coach is that he recognizes all trainees despite their disability or ability. He says that each person is unique in their way, and we should embrace them that way. He says he does not discriminate individuals but motivates them to become who they want. Since Thompson is human, he says his weaknesses are that he focuses too much on details, he does not wish to skip even one of his instructions. He also says he has a problem with saying 'no.' his team is congested because he wants every student interested in football to try their luck.
In conclusion, Thompson began his career as a coach at a tender age. Most of his age mates had focused on other professions like medicine and engineering, while his interest remained in soccer. He started training before going to college, and after graduating with a degree in sports science, he became a renowned football coach. His career is paying him well, and says he enjoys coaching students. Thompson also says that he does not discriminate, and students interested in his training sessions are always invited. Most students enjoy his training sessions because he is funny the whole time. As a coach, Thomson wishes to expand his career and reach more comprehensive places. His profession has made him visit different schools and also many students have come to know him as the funniest coach.
