Globalization is a multidimensional event that includes social, economic, political, cultural, and technological areas. In recent decades, globalization has caused environmental degradation, through the areas that have been significant to many people without having the knowledge that its effects it has created. For example, global warming is one of the impacts that has become a considerable problem that is neglected. When evaluating these effects caused by globalization, we realize that the future is uncertain, and the world expects the worst where people will suffer more. If we preserve nature, then all humanity will have a great benefit that will bring free services that will build a strong foundation for a healthy society and a prospering economy.
International organizations like the United Nations have recognized that globalization involves taking into consideration the concepts of sustainable development, sustainable human development, balanced development, and sustainable development of the environment (Zaidi et al., 2019). Also, the United Nations has proposed some set of principles that give the concept of globalization the human face. Considering the set of policies set by the organization, there are several pros and cons of globalization that we can formulate.
The pros of globalization are that it has reduced the isolation of the developing countries where the expansion of the information society has been made that has enhanced access to information. Globalization has been a significant factor in integrating people into the world community where there is an increased speed of commercial, technological, and financial operations (Burlacu et al., 2018). Also, globalization has promoted the efficiency of economic activities that are taking place in the entire world. The whole world is being divided by a considerable line today where one side is the young societies that are rapidly growing, which have fewer resources and underdeveloped and under-educated skills. The other side is the wealthy societies but old that have inventive populations technologically but with dying demographics.
The cons of globalization are that it has caused security deficit, poverty in some societies, personal insecurity, and migration, which has turned out to be a global threat. Globalization has also caused not to have national solutions to some of the transnational issues that many countries face. Globalization has also created a demographic deficit where there is a narrow national intellectual to some states that have increased the export of human resources (Destek, 2019). Ecology deficiency has been affected due to globalization. This is evident where the natural world is rapidly deteriorating in line with the development and growth of the national and global economy.
Conclusion
In conclusion, considering the pros and cons of globalization, it is clear that there is a growing shortage of natural resources. The largest consumer countries where the demand increases every day are forced to convert from exporters to importers of natural resources and other raw materials. I stand against globalization because when we evaluate the pros and cons of globalization, we can thus expect a depletion of natural resources. The most acute problem that we will face in the coming years and which is becoming more and more felt like the conflict between the United States and China may result in real wars. However, unresolved social and environmental issues have a determining effect on human security like the current pandemic Covid-19 virus, which is affecting the globe.
