Physical activity is the act of moving the body using energy to stay healthy and strong. The physical activities include; walking, running, dancing, push ups, planks, squats, and jogging. Strength exercise training is a type of physical activity that focuses on the use of body resistance to induce muscular contraction which will help in building strength and increase skeletal muscles (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). There are various strength exercises that one can do to keep fitness such as; lifting weights, hill climbing, heavy gardening, and cycling. Physical activities especially strength exercises have a huge impact on body composition. The type of food that one takes and amount of exercise that one takes to control the body composition. Moreover, different strength exercises have different impacts on different body muscles. Therefore it is important to know what type of physical activity is required for development.
How Strength Exercises Can Improve Body Composition
Help in Reducing Mass Percentage
Strength exercises can be used to reduce the mass percentage or rather help in reducing weight (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
By working out, the body can build up muscles which in most instances require fewer calories. As a result, the fats are burnt reducing the excess fats that are not required by the body and hence reducing excess weight.
Strength exercises also increase the metabolic rate of the body which means the excess fats will keep on burning even when the body is at rest. The metabolic rate will increase, and more and more fats will be exhumed from the body hence reducing obesity.
In addition, strength exercises will give the body the strength to keep on working out. As a result, more calories will be burnt during the exercise reducing the excess weight.
Due to weight loss, the strength exercise will help in toning the muscles and increase health.
Help in Fighting Diseases
Strength exercises have some benefits like physical strength and psychological benefits. More importantly, strength exercise help in reducing the chances of getting sick and also reduces obesity (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
Strength exercises keep the body fit reducing the chances of one growing obese. By keeping fit, the social stigma that arises as a result of being obese comes to an end (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). The exercises will build a person's confidence which boosts psychological health.
In addition, by conducting regular strength exercises, heart health is boosted and reduces problems like cardiovascular risks that can lead to heart failure (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
Also, by improving body composition through strength exercise, the body reduces triglyceride levels, facilitates Low-Density Lipoproteins, reduces blood pressure, increases the Density Lipoproteins, and reduces insulin resistance (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
Strength exercises will also reduce back pains since the activities that take place during the exercise increases the body strength and improve the muscle functions especially around the spine area (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). The exercises can also reduce arthritis since joint stiffness will be reduced.
Improving Body Composition and Fitness
Various strength exercise activities have different effects on the human body. It is therefore important to know which exercise one should take for body fitness (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). The various strength activities include;
Push-ups are the most common strength exercise that requires less training and monitoring. Push-ups are intended to improve the upper body such as chest muscles and shoulders as well as toughen the core (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
A Weighted squat jump is another form of strength exercise that helps to shape the bottom part of the body (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). The squat jump is also used to strengthen the abdomen like the thighs for stability. Lunges too can be used to strengthen the hamstrings and glutes.
Burpees is an exercise that is usually conducted on a mat targeting the core of the body, the shoulders and the thighs (Ten Hoor et al., 2018). In most instances, they used to burn the calories in the body.
Surprisingly, adolescent people who are obese tend to have better absolute muscle strength which makes them better participants in the muscle exercises (Ten Hoor et al., 2018).
Conclusion
Obesity is one of the health issues that affect most of the young people in society today. When obesity is not handled well, it may raise the alarm on the various health issues that arise. Obesity can bring about coronary artery disease which is a heart disease that can lead to death. Other risks related to obesity include high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer osteoarthritis, and gout. It is important to engage in physical activities especially strength exercises such as push-ups, treadmill running, lunges, squats, hill climbing, planks, and burpees. Physical exercise, especially among the youth, will help build their body strength, reduce the chances of obesity, sharpen their mortar skills and boost their confidence which comes with good body composition.
