Introduction
Puerto Rico is an unincorporated sovereign of the United States found in the northeast of the Caribbean sea about 1000 miles (Atiles, 2016). The capital city in Puerto Rico and the largest city is San Juan. English and Spanish were the authorized languages in these states as the executive branch of government. Ethnic groups were whites, blacks, indigenous Americans, Asians, and Pacific Islanders. There is more to know about Puerto Rico. These include the history of Puerto Rico from 1800-2000, Social, Economic, Educational, Presidential people, and resources.
The History of Puerto Rico
In 1809, arbitration of political agreement between island with the middle of Europe peninsular carnage was secured after dominant central Kunta acknowledged Puerto Rico as a province belonging to Spain. The first Spanish representative of parliament from the island of Puerto Rico came to its demise after three years in the Cortes. Puerto Rico introduced an independent body due to hostile slaughter by Spain's authority. In 1898 the U.S. attacked Puerto Rico, and the U.S. concurred, and Spain ceded Puerto Rico (GarcĂa et al., 2020). The 1917 Jones-shafroth Act was agreed upon by the U.S. assembly, which gave Puerto Ricans U.S. citizenship. In 1947 the U.S. assembly accepted another Act called elective governor, where Puerto Ricans were able to for their leader (GarcĂa et al., 2020).
Social
In the early years of nearly four centuries of Spanish colonial rule, the Puerto Rican society was statutorily divided into castes. The largest cast consisted of whites. It was followed by blacks and mullattos who consisted of a mixer of European and African natives. Then finally, the smallest group constituted of slaves as the minority group (Jiang et al., 2020). In recent years there is comprises of Europeans, Africans, and also Cubans. Puerto Ricans speak mainly Spanish, and the vast majority are of the catholic religion.
Economic
Puerto Rico's economy is ranked to be the most top income economy by the World Bank. It is the most aggressive economy in the global economy Forum. World Bank states that the gross country income per capita in Puerto Rico seven years ago was $23,831. Amongst supreme and capable regions in the globe, it is ranked 63rd (Alhatem et al., 2020). Puerto Rico's economy is majorly driven by the service preceded by the manufacturing industry. It has stood up to be a common gathering place, conferencing, reward, and showcasing with contemporary convection center in recent years.
Educational
Puerto Rico's earliest learning institution was a grimmer school commenced by a Bishop, namely Alonso M, in the 16th century (Singer et al., 2019). The curriculum system constitutes tri sections, namely primary school grade, intermediate and high school grades, and higher learning studies. The rate of enlightenment in 2002 in Puerto Rico's population was 94.1% (Nesbeth et al., 2019). Census conducted in 2000 indicated that 60% of the demography achieved a tertiary degree and 18% had a bachelor's degree.
Presidential People and Resources
Puerto Rico is governed by a form of government which is republican. That means there is a division of power subjected to jurisdiction and sovereignty of the United States (Willison et al., 2019). The stronghold belongs to two political parties, namely the popular democratic party and the new progressive party. Puerto Rico has a claim to various resources, including oil, forest to mention but a few. They mainly export chemical products, foodstuffs, and electronics.
