Introduction

The first point Prof. Michael Puett makes about Chinese philosophy is that it advises people how to live and conduct their daily lives (Acast). Chinese philosophy is also said to help people build relationships. Puett states that the Chinese philosophy helps to open people's minds, and in the process, people can think of how best the state should operate. I believe this to be true since open-minded people are always open to new experiences and ideas. In this process, such people can easily become more vibrant and stronger while their knowledge and experiences continue building. I would hence agree with Puett that Chinese philosophy helps people figure out the best ways in which their governments should be run.

Chinese Philosophers

One idea that is quite powerful in China is that human beings are messy (Acast). Prof. Michael Puett states that the Chinese philosophers believe humans are a messy bunch of energies and desires. According to Puett, humans are continually pouring out different responses while interacting with other humans. If people are trying to live a better life and are avoiding drawing negative energy towards each other, the Chinese philosophers would advise humans to train themselves to become better human beings and not focus on loving themselves and embarrassing themselves to who they currently are. While I may agree with the Chinese philosophers that human beings are messy, I do not support them when they advise people against loving themselves as a way to live a better life. I believe self-love is essential as it encourages people to pick up good habits. A person who loves him/herself would avoid doing things that might impact on his/her tranquility. Furthermore, self-love has greater life satisfaction and helps people change their perception of the world.

The Chinese philosophy sensitizes the need for people to train themselves (Acast). If one wants to be something, they are encouraged to pretend to be it for a long time, and he/she would eventually be that thing. According to Prof. Michael Puett, nobody is brave at birth, and if a person wants to be brave then he/she should pretend to be brave, act as if he/she is brave, and then he/she would slowly train him/herself to be brave. I'm in total agreement with the Chinese philosophy that if one wants to be something, then they should behave as they believe. This helps a person to believe in him/herself as it builds self-confidence. In everything that a person wants to achieve, there would be many barriers and obstacles questioning his/her competence. The only way one can get through these hardships is by believing in oneself and being confident.

Conclusion

Chinese philosophy considers the need for a leader to be sensitive to those around him/her (Acast). Leaders are also encouraged to be careful about how they do things and how people might be affected. Moreover, Chinese philosophy encourages leadership to entitle training oneself on how to work with others more effectively. Leadership is not about training yourself to be the strongest figure and dominating everyone. Dominating someone for a long time will always outdo a person in the long run. I agree with Chinese philosophy that there is a need for leaders to be sensitive and careful on how they do this and pass laws. A careful and sensitive leader cultivates trust among people since he supports and helps them to develop.
