Introduction
Technology in healthcare is significantly advancing, and many innovations are being developed to improve the delivery of healthcare. One of the most significant technological innovations in healthcare is the development of augmented reality, which is imposed on the real lives of individuals where they can see the real world (Ferrari et al., 2019). One of the innovations that use augmented reality is the Dorothy app "navigate," which guides users as they move around the house and reminds them of important tasks like taking their medicine. The app contains colorful arrows that show direction around the house and rich labels that explain the surroundings to the user (Pucer & Zvanut, 2016). Other examples of current technological advancements in the health sector are virtual reality and the Internet of Things.
One of the external factors that shape decision making for developing solutions using applied technology is market forces. For example, supply and demand play a significant role in the development of the AR app and the business since changes in demand for the service lead to price adjustments (Zhang et al., 2018). The government is also an external factor since it is responsible for the increase and decrease of financial interest. Thus, technology innovators may be affected by monetary policies when developing apps like Dorothy.
The first business strength is that app developers like those of Dorothy receive support from the app store. Thus, upon launching, it is easier for consumers to find them in the app store. Such businesses have the potential to make significant profits as the need for augmented reality increases in healthcare organizations and for individuals (Pai & Huang, 2011). The business weaknesses regarding technological innovations are lengthy approval procedures, high development costs, and longer periods of development.
The traditional methods used by global organizations when conducting strategic and scenario planning are PESTEL analysis, SWOT analysis, Porter's five forces, and the VRIO framework. The next-generation methods include a balanced scorecard and Blue Ocean strategies (Lew et al., 2019).
Conclusion
In conclusion, technology innovations continue to increase in the healthcare industry. Augmented reality is an innovation that is imposed on the real lives of individuals with specific conditions to assist them in doing particular tasks. Dorothy is an example of an app that uses AR technology, and its manufacturer is affected by external forces, and the business has several strengths and weaknesses.
