Introduction

The recommended Ted Talks have helped me improve my understanding of running an educational institution and any different organization. Hwang (2018) has tried to explain how she has managed to use her biodiversity to improve her life. She has a South Korean origin, raised in Argentina, and studied in America. Hwang (2018) faced a tough time looking for a place to call home because of the discrimination she faced in every country, including back in Korea, where Hwang often received questions on why she spoke Korean with a Spanish accent. Hwang finally decides to embrace all versions of herself; this made her stand out. In another talk by Lorenzo (2017), this lady encourages gender diversity by urging companies to hire more top management women. Hwang (2018) experiences devastation because of the growing numbers of female graduates with more than ten years’ experience, yet they cannot get absorbed into leadership. In another talk by Hayley Yeats, the girl was raised in Sidney but had a Korean origin. Hwang (2018) narrates how she is struggling to cope up with that minority life.

Different Means to Expand

I have different means to expand, embrace, and integrate biodiversity in the educational sector. First, I will urge my senior education manager and other related stakeholders to incorporate a good percentage of women in the top leadership. As Lorenzo (2017) narrates, few women in leadership alone make a difference; for gender diversity to impact innovation, the educational institution needs to have more than 20 percent of women in the administration. Personally, from the self-assessment, as indicated in chapter 2 Global Perspective page 62, I scored an impressive mark of 58 in statements 11 to 20. That higher score puts me in a better place to think globally, act, and adopt the local environment. Involving women in leadership and listening to their new ideologies will positively impact any educational or corporate institution (Moorhead & Griffin, 2008).

Workplace Diversity

Throughout the course, I have learned that it is not hard to deal with diversity in any workplace. There is a need to address every member’s diverse needs in the educational sector and embrace their diversity. As an education assistant, I have seen positive results out of diversifying our staff members. Learners feel motivated by visiting members of the staff coming from diverse cultures and nationalities. By incorporating stakeholders from different races, they can identify and meet the needs of other learners. Referring to Teddy talks, Hwang (2018) seems to fit best in the educational sector. She knows English, Spanish, and Korean. Such a trait will position someone in the best position to meet learners’ needs from different nationalities. It is as well accurate that some people will be more curious to learn from a foreigner. I find many people willing to interact more with foreigners throughout my profession, open to their ideas, exciting, and interested to learn more about them. Personally, from the self-assessment guidelines in chapter 1 Global Mindset (p.7), I scored an impressive 42 mark. It means I have a high global mindset. I work well with foreigners already incorporated in my sector, and am open and welcoming to their diversified ideas.

Conclusion

Therefore, it is necessary to develop better work plans on incorporating, embracing, and integrating foreigners, women, and other minorities in our education institutions. I have learned that embracing diversity in our educational institutions is one way we are likely to boost our results and revenues. Corporate and social institutions require open-minded individuals to thrive in their operations since it will facilitate people’s acquisition from various diversities.
