Teens and youth have recently seen the use of alcohol. In America, only individuals of over 21 years of age are allowed to drink alcohol, but still, teens as young as 12 years old have been reported to have and are drinking alcohol. Alcohol use is illegal for teens because it can cause dangerous effects. The effects include addiction, introduction to drug abuse, health problems, sexual abuse, rape, pregnancies, and also dropping out of school ("Effects of alcohol on teens: Physical, mental & emotional," 2019). Alcohol has the same effect on teens as it has on adults. The only difference is how the two groups control their emotions, actions, and language when they are drunk. Teens' brains are still growing; thus, there is a possibility of them getting drunk more easily than adults.
Target group
It has been reported that most teens drink alcohol to minimize the pressure from schoolwork, or because of peer pressure. In this case, I have decided to conduct this campaign to create awareness of the effects of drinking alcohol among teens. The campaign will sensitize the teens on the importance of not drinking alcohol.
Social media platform
The social media I intend to use for my campaign is Instagram. Most of the teens in high school and college are on Instagram posting and sharing their pics and videos to their followers. Therefore Instagram will help reach a wider audience as compared to other social media platforms.
What Evidenced-based program
The evidence-based program that I will use is to ensure that at school parties, alcohol should be prohibited. Only non-alcoholic drinks are allowed on the school premises. The school leaders or those who are in charge of the parties, and social gatherings will get proper guidelines on how to control the students without causing any commotion. Messaging and components you will use for your campaign
For my campaign, I will use videos and images showing the dangers and effects of alcohol on teenagers. I will post them on my Instagram page. Also, I will create an embedded pop-up of the campaign to show up on the Instagram pages of the audience. I will apply by sharing stories and links that resonate with the life of a teenager. To get more hits and views on Instagram, I will be posting the content multiple times at different times to ensure that teens in different zones get to view my post.
How the success of the program will be measured
The success of my campaign will be marked by the number of likes and shares on Instagram. The number of views on the video posted shows how many teens have seen and watched that video. Also, the time that the views are the shares were higher will tell which group was likely to have received the message. My assessment will be done twice a day, and data will be taken. Most teens are online at late night and in the afternoon. I will compare the statics with the time of the rise.
