Social media helped in the transmission of information from one end to another. This has been enabled by the fact that most young people possess electronic gadgets such as phones and computers, which at the touch of a button, they can access a wide variety of online services (Kara, 2019). This has created convenience and exposure to an array of information that is of knowledge. This has enabled young people to make decisions on different kinds of career choices as a result of an expanded source of information that would not be possible in the absence of such technological advancement. Undoubtedly, social media, through marketing incentives that have been employed by various institutions has made most students enjoy the economies of exposer to some course that they would not have thought about their existence and are marketable enough in the employment market (Kara, 2019). This has been a plus and of benefit to the student since they shall have the ability to gauge what they seek to do in line with their scores and ability to deliver when they pursue the course.

Consequently, some applications are solely dedicated to job search to young people, for example, LinkedIn. Here a young person is required to register his or her credentials and details about himself or herself that shall be used by employers to connect with them directly and have an interaction that shall enable them to gauge whether the available jobs available are suitable for them to enable them further their career. With prior knowledge of what the job entails, a young person has to think for themselves if it is the best option for them.

With the existence of social media, young people are able to create friends and have social circles that enable them to have a connection and be able to disseminate various career information that one has been exposed to that the other has not been able to ingress (Kettunen et al., 2013). Therefore, such information enables a young individual to further his or her search for the appropriate career that shall offer him or her competitiveness in the job market. They will know about this from the experiences they are sharing in their social circles and observe their colleagues' development in such career fields.

Worth noting is the impact social media has created on how the learning institutions also market their courses. Many young people are registered in majority of the most known social media, for example, Facebook, Instagram, or even tweeter where the academic institutions highlight the variety of academic services that the young individuals can rely upon to expand their body of knowledge and thereafter, advance their career ambitions (Kettunen et al., 2013). This has also created a platform where individuals who have had the experience talk of how the academic qualifications have enabled them to be better positioned in the job market, practicing the career they desired to pursue.

In conclusion, even though social media has several negative effects on young people, relating to the impact of social media on young people's career, there is more important than outweighs the negative. With the existence of social media, there have been educational services provided in these platforms where young individuals can be taught at their convenience at a sustainable cost. Notably, the social media era has created a wider scope of access to information that, when used in a more appropriate and disciplined manner by young people, it shall boost their chances to grow their careers and offer services that are meeting the expectations of the entities where they are working at.
