The demographic study is essential for the planning of a given country. The county prediction of future economic indices depends on how demographic growth keeps changing over time. For instance, county health preparedness depends heavily on researchers' demographic data in the given county or state. The demographic figures are provided based on the critical area that is perceived to have a direct impact on the targeted population. It is essential to provide such data since they help administrators understand the better planning approach on economic projects, education programs, and health facilities, among other development impacts (Souch and Cossman, 2020). The demographic data depends on various indicators that the population through the interaction of their daily activities. Therefore, for a prudent understanding of demographic data, it is essential to compare two states by analyzing the health risk indicators and their implication to the population using a case study of Marion and Harrison County in the West Virginia State.
Description of Demographic Information for West Virginia State and Marion and Harrison Counties
The study will focus on comparing demographic data of Harrison and Marion County, located in West Virginia State. Firstly, the West Virginia state is located in the Appalachian region found in the Southern of the United States of America. Pennsylvania's state is bordered towards the northeast, Maryland on the east, and Virginia to the south. According to Bradley et al., 2020, the survey conducted in 2016 indicated that West Virginia is the 41st most extensive state in the USA and has is ranked 38th in America. The population of West Virginia is estimated at 1.781 million people. Its capital city is Charleston. The state has 55 counties that have existed since the Wheeling convention that occurred in 1861. Thus, the study will focus on comparing Harrison and Marion counties’ by evaluating the respective health status, demographics, and giving information showing their respective locations, including their maps.

Harrison County is located on West Virginia State's Westside in the United States of America. It is a metropolitan county that has people of almost all the races. According to Souch and Cossman (2020), the Harrison county census result of 2010 showed a population of 69 099. Also, the county has a total number of 28,533 household units that are contained in 18,992 families in the county. The census report indicated that the county has a population density of approximately 166 square per meter. The more the people are healthy, the more they are productive; hence, it was essential to come up with various ways of solving the state's health problems. Therefore, based on the health factors observed in both the Harrison and Marion Counties, it is essential to highlight health desires and the strategies of addressing the health challenges that the two counties were facing.
Health Challenges
The West Virginia State needs to come up with ways of addressing the health challenges in its counties. For instance, the county needs to have a well-structured program spearheaded with the county top leadership that should address various problems leading to the loss of lives in West Virginia (Lego & Deskins, 2020). For instance, health disorders like high blood pressure or diabetes can be controlled by the state's help through the regulation of risk factors associated with the problem. For example, coming up with rules and regulations on the selling of alcohol and educating the public on the risk factors on excessive alcohol intake. It is because excessive alcohol intake is a risk factor for health disorders (Warfield et al., 2019). Thus, the state resolution of coming up with an awareness program will help save lives lost through accidents by drunk driving, through HIV/AIDs that is acquired through irresponsible sex behaviors caused by excessive alcohol intake.
Also, there is a need to develop a food safety program that can be used in educating the members of the public on the right procedures of meal intake. According to the CDC report of 2017, 12% of death in the country are caused by foodborne illness (Warfield et al., 2019). Thus, the West Virginia State need to embrace techniques of promoting food safety in the counties.
There are several cases of heart diseases in the two counties of the West Virginia state. The mortality rate caused by heart diseases in West Virginia State is estimated at 29% (Warfield et al., 2019). This is a higher figure because there various risk factors that epidemiological study suggests that the risk factors are fatal (Warfield et al., 2019). However, the public can be educated on controlling the risk factors, which will help them handle the condition.
