Beyonce is a songwriter, actor, and singer in America. She became famous in the 1990s as the leading R&B singer in the USA and abroad. In the past decade, Beyonce has shown significant musical compliance and ventured in more fields that have massively impacted people all over the world. She has acted as a great role model for many girls and artists in the industry. Her awe-inspiring performances and music that is relevant in the cultural set up have proved her as a living icon (Boyce). Additionally, any action she takes in her music career or life experiences lives a long-lasting effect on her fans (Knight). Beyonce's prowess in various fields makes her deserve an award as the international person of the year. These include the great music that she produces, her strong stand on feminism and black lives, a couple of businesses she ventures in, goddess nature in domestic life, and her influential ability.
Performance
Firstly, Beyonce has always had a magical voice and outstanding performance of her songs. Since her childhood singing group, Destiny's Child, Beyoncé shared her amazing vocals with the world, and they were more exceptional in her albums. Hence, she has now become one of the most selling music artists of all time. Beyonce was named by the World Music Awards as the Best-selling R&B artist in 2007. In 2009, she was awarded as the Top Female Artist by the Billboard Awards (Boyce). Her prowess in acting and dancing has also made her performance lively. She always portrays the ultimate stamina of an influential performer. Concerts such as Beyonce: Lice at Wembley, Revel Presents: Beyonce Live, and more leave her dominating the world with astonishment (Boyce). This brings out a significant reason to why she should be awarded as the international person of the year.
Secondly, Beyonce is a feminist icon. Through her influential charity, the #BeyGood Project, she leveraged her global brand in supporting gender equality declared as the world's. Being a very powerful world celebrity gave her a platform to advocate feminism. In 2013, Beyoncé appeared in stage with a branded backdrop written "feminist" (Knight). She inspired many young women to reclaim themselves. In an interview, she stated that the fact she advocates on women being given access to facilitates such as health care, which is essential to all genders, makes her a humanist instead (Preston). Being an outspoken feminist, which is rare to our celebrities and artist, makes Beyoncé worth the award of an international person of the year.
Thirdly, besides her artistry field, Beyoncé is an outstanding entrepreneur. Despite the corporate world of Americans being ruled by male gender, Beyoncé stood out as her own CEO of a production company and record label. Beyoncé earns twice her husband from her company, Parkwood Entertainment (Preston). Additionally, 617,000 copies of her self-titled album sold out in three days only after the release. Her marketing strategies are undoubtedly astonishing. In December, her scope of influence and power was displayed when Kate Middleton and Prince William visited Brooklyn Nets, which Jay-Z, Beyoncé's husband, partially owns (Knight). Her prowess in the business sector as a lady can be considered in giving her the international award.
Also, unlike many artists, Beyoncé has displayed her role as a mother, wife, and artist exemplary. The way she navigates between family life and her hypersexual pop music career leaves many surprised. In her song Drunk in Love, she has reimagined the traditional assumptions about women's roles as wives and mothers (Knight). Beyonce has rebranded the face of marriage by displaying an unfamiliar and enviable life with Jay-Z. Marital commitment can be refashioned in sexy and fun terms considering how she projects her private intimacy with daughter and husband (Knight). Being an unusual argument for a pop star reveals the unique nature of Beyoncé and, thus, a reason to win the reward.
Empowering
Additionally, Beyonce has been empowering the black community, which currently has significantly been undermined. In her album, lemonade, she subtly talked about the black experience and consequences, which comes with being a black human being. This followed too much backlash, but that did not dim her focus. In an interview with Elle, she responded that "I have so much admiration and respect for officers and the families of officers who sacrifice themselves to keep us safe. But let's be clear: I am against police brutality and injustice. Those are two separate things. If celebrating my roots and culture during Black History Month made anyone uncomfortable, those feelings were there long before a video and long before me." (Cubit). During her Formation World Tour, Beyoncé had an all-black, all-female band, an indication of her stand on black lives as well as feminism (Cubit). She has also tried to fight the "angry black woman" stereotype by calmly shutting down naysayers. After her Super Bowl Performance, Miami' police union chief Lt. Javier Ortiz ordered boycotting of Beyoncé. It was phenomenal that Beyoncé chose to make money out of the situation by selling T-shirts branded "Boycott Beyonce" rather than getting petty in social media and public disputes (Cubit). Her stand against racism makes it worth being awarded as an international person of the year.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Beyonce is an indication of the generation that is obsessed with having it all. Her central values represented in entrepreneurship, art, family devotion, and activism are boundless potential and appealing to everyone. These values make it worth for Beyoncé to be awarded as the international person of the year.
