Having a trusted friend is a wonderful thing in life. Today, it is my great honour and pleasure to introduce to you, Homika Elmore, my best friend whom I have known recently. I want you to understand why I was attracted to her and decided to be with her as my best friend and a confrere. I have found her to be ambitious, open-minded and kind-hearted person. Not only is she a friend, and classmate but also a mother to me.

My classmate, Homika Elmore is a middle-aged woman, 40 years of age and hails from a small town called Ennis, Texas and 35 miles south of Dallas. She has not stayed in Ennis for long since she left the town at the age of 17 years. After leaving Ennis, Elmore settled in Cedar Hill where she now lives. Elmore is a housemother with a family to sustain. As a mother, she nurses two girls and one boy. My meeting with her revealed how happy she is to be waiting for twins on the way on this upcoming March. It will be a blessing to have two boys in a month. Elmore enjoys staying at home and caring for her family and her kids. Due to the family matters she has to attend to and the babies coming her way, she is an evening and weekend student. I am confident that some of you might have seen her in the corridors of the college.

When she was in junior high school, Elmore was left by her older sister and brother who went out of home leaving her with her grandmother. Since then she has been under the care of her grandmother who has raised her throughout. This situation motivated her to work with the elderly and in the social work field. Elmore is a hardworking woman, who has previously worked with the elderly in the health care field, nurse aid work, home health care and in private home care. Despite her invaluable experience, she intends to see something more brought back to life during the rest part of her life.

Elmore is an ambitious woman who is determined to pursue an associate degree and become a drug and alcohol counsellor. Living with victims of drug and alcohol and seeing the effects of the drugs n them, compelled her to choose a drug and alcohol-related career so that she can impact their lives.

Like many of us, Homika is a big fan of food, and her favourites include Ethiopian and Mexican cuisines. Albeit, she always like trying different types of food every time. Unlike most of us, she fears to be in the midst of new people and being in a large crowd where attention is all drawn to her. However, she is trying to mingle with people and frequent places to eliminate the fear of being looked at in the midst of a large crown or new people.

In brief, Homika is a marvellous person whom I cherished for her kind-heart, resilience and grand ambitions. All of you are lucky to have him as a confrere and motivator. Her desire to try different types of food every while will be of importance in the career of all us because she will help us discover new areas. Homika is a miracle reflection of the class's since her favourites are similar to those of most of the class. As a big fan of Ethiopian and Mexican cuisines, she represents the likes of most of the class members.
