In Greek literature, the Odyssey, with the traits attached to him as the epic hero Odysseus in the way of action and response, great confrontation suffering, and results in a better understanding of living. Being an Epic Hero, the individual has to be outstanding with traits and character that is heroic. Odyssey, in his rule, reign explicitly embodies character traits that are determination and noble pride. The persistence and leadership in his decisive decisions. Odysseus' personality and character traits give the epic hero of the reign.
Heroic Traits
Determination
Odysseus shows his determination in several ways in the leadership he dad and the scenarios encountered. He shows commitment after receiving direction and suggestion to head to the land of the dead by the circle, agreeing to go to the area of the dead, being deadly in the Tiresias n the danger of jeopardizing security awaiting him (Freeland, 2019). Despite speculated difficulties, he finds a solution they get there.
Moreover, Odysseus shows determination in the land of the Lotus Eaters, when his men landed and refuse to resume (Verhelst, 2019). Odysseus analyses the situation and decertifies forced his men to return to Ithaca, “But I brought them back, back to the hollow ships, and streaming tears I forced them.” On the journey back and the mean released, the winds of Aeolus defying his advice and wind blew the ship away from the intended destination. Odysseus's determination says, “In my grief, I thought that I should cast myself overboard and drown, rather than face such a tragedy. But my spirit held me, made me cling to the fail, and endure it all”
Pride
His pride elaborates Odysseus as an epic hero. It is due to reputation, and fame was prominent in old Greek necessitating traits for great hearo indeed. Odysseus developed pride when they got to Polyphemus's territory, and his men gusted to eat the food and depart quickly. Odysseus rejected his men's opinion and recommended eating inside the cave, which resulted in conflict with Polyphemus (Minchin, 2019). Odysseus' personal intelligence and decisive action preference better than his men, makes him think he is right. ” Why not take these cheeses, get them stowed, come back, throw open all pens, and make a run for it? We’ll drive the kids and lambs abroad. We say put out again on good saltwater!”. His pride judgment in the control of his men led him to trap and fight by Polyphemus, putting Odysseus in a challenging situation.
Furthermore, Odysseus demonstrates his pride in the hopes of renown wing his name after the narrow escape of the Land of the Dead (Freeland, 2019). Wanting his name famous and feared yells,” Cyclops, if ever a mortal man inquires how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities; took your eye, son of Laertes who home’s on Ithaca.” Moreover, Odysseus secretly receives windbags with North, East, and South winds and does not tell his men (Verhelst, 2019). Odysseus pride is elaborated in the way of his journey back to Ithaca since he carries pride that the gift was to him by the god, in the journey back to Ithaca, his pride flaw and hubris explosions of the consequences.
Conclusion
Despite the general leadership challenges, Odysseus gigantically displays the kingship traits in him. All the decisions he made and the leadership forcing situations he does it riding on the heroism theme. He is in full accordance with the name epic hero in creation history. Epic heroes need to be determent in their decision and be bold and decisive to lead their men and get to their territories. Have pride in their duty of heroism.
