Argument Against the Path for Citizenship to Illegal Immigrants

No, giving illegal immigrants a pathway to citizenship should not be allowed because it is a blanket amnesty that pardons lawbreakers and rewards them (Nowrasteh & Bier, 2020). Rewarding people who have broken the law by granting them what they want can encourage many people to act against the law in their country and shift to another country where they will be accepted. In the United States, several people live there illegally, and some people opt to find a way of sending them to their country to ensure they solve the various problem in the country.

These paths should not be allowed because one cannot offer law-breaking incentives and expect people to stop breaking the country’s laws (Amadeo, 2020). When bad behavior is rewarded, the wrongdoings increases; nevertheless, when a wrong action is punished, the wrongdoing cases are likely to decrease. As a result, if the U.S government wants to solve the illegal immigration problem in the country, they should punish lawbreakers and deport all the people who live in the country illegally (Nowrasteh & Bier, 2020). By doing this, the statute of the law will be restored, and the problem will be solved completely.

Citizenship to illegal immigrants increases crime as terrorist action in a country (Amadeo, 2020). When granting immigrant citizenship documents, the responsible people may not know who is a terrorist and who is not because there are many crimes that make people leave their country illegally. As a result, there should be strict monitoring of people entering the United State illegally because criminals, along with the terrorist, may take advantage. Nevertheless, this endangers the life of other citizens because terrorists are likely to plan on how to harm the people they get in the country. Granting citizenship path or a legal residency to terrorists encourages them to commit more terrorist crimes in one country and flee to another country and do the same in that new country.

Furthermore, illegal immigration demotivates legal immigration (Alexander et al., 2017). If people know that illegal immigration is acceptable in the United States, they may decide to use shortcuts to enter the country. Individuals will feel a burden to undertake the entire process of applying and waiting for a visa and opt for a cheaper method (Alexander et al., 2017). As a result, this creates tension and potential robes for the country because one may not know the kind of people they live with.

Also, the country becomes divided because many people use a different language (Amadeo, 2020). Since English is never declared the United States official language, people who use the English language may settle in the same place, especially illegal immigrants, because of the connections they get from others. Due to this, the state will be divided because these people may fear intermingling with others because they may not want people in the United States to know what they did in their country (Amadeo, 2020). The policymakers and lobbyists propose teaching several languages in schools, presenting educational information, providing books written in several languages, and hosting an experience of a different culture in a multilanguage presentation.

However, those who advocate for a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants argue that they may create new jobs, boost the economy, and invent new technologies (Nowrasteh & Bier, 2020). Different people have different ideas about various things, and since people learn from others, illegal immigrants should be granted legal residency so that people can learn from them because they come with good ideas in business and other areas. The economy can benefit from what illegal immigrants do to contribute to the progress of the economy (Amadeo, 2020). They are also said to come with new business ideas from their country, and this will create job opportunities for people who have no jobs in the United States, earning them a source of living. With citizenship, these people can open positions, and people, together with the economy, will enjoy the benefits.

A citizenship pathway holds families together and provides the people who are characterized as second-class individuals a chance to become United States citizens (Nowrasteh & Bier, 2020). Family unity is tied to American values of respect, love, and community. The citizenship pathway gives some illegal immigrants a chance to get their families to the U.S to live together. When families live in different countries or places, children grow in environments with mental, physical, and financial instability (Alexander et al., 2017). The partners and spouses of detained people also experience social isolation and depression, increasing poor results for them and the children.

As a result, this has made several people lose the job in the U.S because entry-level and menial jobs are given to illegal immigrants making the legal citizens who are qualified for this level lack the source of living. Several low-paying and training type jobs and positions in various industries are given to illegal immigrants instead of being assigned to beginners in America to prepare the future workforce. Jobs such as cleaning activities, preparation of first foods, vehicle maintenance and repair, and similar jobs, which train employees in basic job knowledge, are never available to retired people, disabled, and youths in the U.S.

Employing illegal immigrants encourage them in the wrong action because they are aware that if they commit crimes in their country and shit to the United States, they will have a citizenship permit (Alexander et al., 2017). By this, they will get a job to sustain their families while they are away. Even if they work and people feel motivated, they should be denied residence in the United State for the safety of the citizens and for them to feel encouraged to abide by the country’s laws because when the criminals know the consequences, they are likely to get when they migrate to another nation after committing a crime may help to reduce the criminal cases in all nations (Alexander et al., 2017). Denying illegal immigrants is one way of punishing people and encouraging them to observe their behavior and be loyal to their countries.

Denying citizenship to illegal immigrants is one way of minimizing crimes in countries. People commit crimes because they know they will be admitted to a particular country, and thus, they never care about the future of their country. To minimize the terrorists and criminal people in the United States, illegal immigrants should not be allowed to stay there, and there should be a way of punishing the people who are illegally there and sending them to their countries after the punishment. Also, there should be an excellent investigation to ensure no illegal immigrant will enter the U.S.
