The post addresses Academic excellence. Academic success begins with collaboration between the parents of the students and the teachers. Schools are not the only environments that influence the learning and development of a child. Homes play an important role in the growth and the wholeness of a child. The readings from the post are accurate, as they define learning and education, as a wide field with many activities that require constant reinforcement. Reinforcement cannot occur at schools alone, for many reasons. The bond between the educators and the student might not be as strong as required, for a sense of motivation to occur. The post highlights the importance of parental involvement in education, as it enables commitment in the tracking of a child's academic progress. There is a tendency for students, with a strong parental involvement, in educational matters to score higher grades, develop social skills, and even display a constant desirable behavior (Wright. et al,2010). The post notes that despite the importance of parental involvement and guidance, there are still parents, unaware of the child’s performance in schools. Such parents are not aware of the important dates in the school calendar. It is frustrating to note that, such parents have less confidence in their abilities to do parenting and are unaware of the curriculum and the roles of educators. Many communication channels must be opened up in the future to ensure that educators make parents more accountable and responsible in the process of molding their children.
The Biblical context of Parental Involvement in Education
Education is lifelong and holistic. The bible is cited to have directed the parents to be constantly closer to their children, mentoring and educating them. The foundation of education is morality and the development of acceptable social skills. Imparting social skills on a child cannot be done by an educator alone, given that emotional elements are involved in the process (Martin, 2010). Parental involvement reinforces the teachings of the educator. Whenever the parent is involved, the self-esteem of the student increases, hence discipline. The research concludes that the students who have the attention of their parents, and active involvement in the academic work successfully graduate from institutions of higher learning. They become mature citizens, ready to contribute to the development of their societies. The Bible indicates the need for parents to be responsible especially in the process of nurturing their children at an early age (Martin, 2010). Nurturing learning at an early age impacts the overall adulthood life of the child. In conclusion, the post responds to the saying "Charity begins at home", meaning that education and learning is a process that occurs daily and involves mental, physical and spiritual development. The process becomes bearable and successful for the learner if the parents and the educators are working closely and with the same aim.
