Difference between an "Elegant" And "Inelegant" Outcome in REBT
REBT is a representation of an action-oriented humanistic method that tries to study the emotional growth with a lot of emphases given to individual stresses' capacity. The stresses' capacity is deemed responsible for creating, controlling, and altering their emotional states. Ellis advocated for "elegant" which is a component of active-directive. Based on REBT, elegant is referred to as preferential or specific where it seeks to create a profound philosophical effect that changes an individual's attitude by clearing the irrational beliefs while replacing them with the rational beliefs.
The features of elegant in REBT include understanding the role of rigid and flexible evaluation to create emotional health and disturbance. "Inelegant" is another form of modern psychotherapy which compels individuals to make inconsistent and practical statements concerning themselves. Its techniques include some of the basic cognitive reframes such as "I have to accept myself as worthy, or i can evaluate myself among the worthy because I am alive." This is a proposition that empirically likely to result in fostering a feeling of confidence as well as self-acceptance. For instance, Jane is a client representing both the two-psychotherapy outcome. She is trying to understand herself in decision-making and comes to believe that she poses emotional problems. Jane is anxious about losing her kids as well as the community if she chooses task L. Her anxiety about the kids as she thinks that she has rejected them by choosing option L and the guilt she is yet to face. She equally develops anxiety to choose L instead of her current life situation. She finally feels guilty for being and acting selfishly. In this case, Jane finally is reluctant to choose L because she thinks there should be a guarantee of L not rejecting her latter. This is the state of the two phases of elegant and inelegant in working to help Jane make a quick decision.
Q2
Addiction for whatever reason is never justifiable to suit human life. An individual may be addicted things that deteriorate one's life or the one that fulfils desires. Whatever the case, addiction may not be something good. As far as REBT is concerned, individuals wishing to escape from addiction are possibly faced with several recovery options. However, there is not a single approach deemed effective for individuals. When an individual accepts or believes that he or she is addicted to something and cannot overcome the addiction, the wrong motive of the person is displayed. Besides, it is important to note that clients tend to register their irrational beliefs in their ways that justifies the action. When a client asserts being unable to overcome an addiction, the basic concept of REBT puts this idea in within the three basic musts outcome. The most preferred outcome, in this case, is demand about the world of life conditions. Ideally, these musts are assuming life beliefs such as "living conditions must be hard to cope with." This leaves room for despair, and the inelegant type of reasoning that there are issues beyond our ability starts to convince one that the situation is irreparable such as the case of failing to overcome an addiction. By all standards, desperation is a behavioural practice that can be fixed by therapeutic REBT helps to rid negative behaviours as well as eliminating addictive tendencies by seeking a life fulfilment and happiness. The basic concept of REBT, therefore, seeks to promote and encourage positive values, for instance, strong self-esteem that will help to shed the notion of unwavering acceptance. As an REBT therapist, it is important to point to the client that everything; negative or positive commences from the mind and can be changed to a particular behaviour when self-esteem is conceptualized. The emphasis is therefore laid on rational thinking which is encouraged to be part and parcel of an individual and making it a practice. In this case, rational thinking becomes a practice that supersedes the irrational thinking. Once an individual can rationalize the negative thoughts, one can forthwith begin to overcome the belief, which inhibits life fulfilment.
Q3
REBT's utility on clients of diverse background offers a platform that negates self. When the self-talk enters the person's head, it ousts the rational thinking as it elicits effects of everything that the person does from cognitive, behavioural and emotional as well, as how they cope up with the vicissitudes the life offers. Based on this, REBT is offering a form of cognitive behavioural Psychotherapy anchored on the premise that by just changing the patterns of thinking, an individual can achieve improvements in behavioural and emotional health. REBT tool applicability is person-centred and reminisces the gestalt approach. Its aim precisely is to solve problems that concern dysfunctional emotions, cognitive and behaviours through what is referred to as a goal oriented and systematic procedures taking account of the present status of an individual. The idea is oriented towards behaviour and cognitive while at the same time take into account thinking, judgment doing and analyzing a situation.
Some of the strong points of REBT are that it does not only lay focus on the present situation but also give a wide glimpse of how one can deal with the future irrational thinking. This will work for the avoidance of the same situation in reoccurring. Additionally, REBT is one of the effective forms of psychotherapy if it is combined with other medication. It shows a great helping some clinical disorders especially in dealing with the treatment of depression cases.
One of the pitfalls of REBT is that often the therapist does not indulge in an exploration venture to unearth background of the emotional issue presented by the client. Instead, what the tool does is to recommend how to reason despite the causal and maintenance factors. Mainly, this goes off the roles of a therapist in helping the client to explore and verify their values.
Q4
Thought Recording
Thought records represent one of the skills taught in cognitive behavioural therapy, which are based on premises such as; one should not believe every thought he or she has. This is a valuable tool, which is used; in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) this technique has critical underlying principles that are fundamentally summarised as "what are your beliefs, and why do you believe in them?" thought the recording is used to:
Identify the negative but automatic thoughts
Help clients in understanding the links between emotions and thoughts
Give an examination of the evidence for and against selected negative thoughts
Challenging the negative automatic thoughts and
Generating realistic alternatives to replace negative automatic thoughts
An example of thought review based on the situation will go like a brief description of the situation that resulted in unpleasant feelings. This helps to an individual to remember well the situation later. "I uttered something wrong in one of the social events. It made me feel embarrassed and anxious pondering about it".
Q5
Cognitive Distortions
These are biased perspectives that we often take to ourselves as well as the interpretation we assign to the world around us. In many cases, they are irrational thoughts and beliefs that we reinforce over a period. Aaron Beck identified some cognitive distortions such as:
Control fallacies-this is cognitive distortion based on the premise that we do not have control over our lives. It makes human a victim of fate and helpless. The different premise of this is that we are in total control of our surroundings and ourselves. This gives us a sense of responsibility. Both the beliefs are damaging as well as being inaccurate. Ideally, no one is in control of what can or happens to them, and again no one is entirely able to control their situation. For instance, an individual who thinks and brags that he can control all circumstances that surround the sphere of his or her life. This is a wide fallacy for it is impossible to do so.
Always being right- this is another cognitive damage posited by Aaron. He asserts that perfectionists and those who are struggling with imposter syndrome recognize this distortion. This is the belief that we are always right, correct and accurate. This distortion has no room to accept the idea that we could be wrong and we are capable of doing anything to prove that we are right. For instance, internet commenter's can spend hours staging an argument over a political issue beyond the point in which reasonable minds would reach. In the case, they would "agree to disagree," as they engage in "Always right" in which they think it is a battle of intellectuals that must be won.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Utility
Many researchers have suggested that acceptance-based principles and mindfulness can increase efforts reduce human surfer rings while improving quality of life. Based on xxx, the determination and acceptability of treatments for clients from cultural and different backgrounds bring together the motive of realizing the importance of living a fulfilled life. Essentially, the tool focuses on to help the maladapted individuals with certain aspects to go through what are their belief systems. The treatment was rated well with client satisfaction registered to be high. Many results indicated that the clients who were treated with CBT were satisfied with the form of the treatment.
Some of the strengths of CBT compared to other therapies, id that it be as effective as a medicine in the treatment of depression as well as other mental cases. Also, the procedure can be completed within a short period. CBT is highly structured; this provides an opportunity under which it can be practiced in different formats such as in groups, computer programs, and other methods.
On the other hand, the CBT has one main pitfall of making the client commit to the process to benefit. This implies that a therapist can advise and help you, but he is not able to make the problems go away.
Q1.
Reality and feminist therapy
Quality world emanates from choice theory, which states that there is an important perception in human of the quality world. The quality world is described as a personal picture album of all ideas, people, things and ideas that we have been in contact with imaginatively. Reality therapy which is an approach to psychotherapy, as well as counselling, agrees with the basic concept of the quality world in the sense that individuals are seen as suffering from a perspective of a socially universal human condition which is different from mental illness. The fruitless quest to attain basic needs takes individual behaviors to deviate from the norm. The person sees a different life with the thought of an existence of a quality world.
Q2.
William Glasser developed choice theory. It gives an explanation based on human behavior, which is concerned with internal motivation. William posits that all human behavior is chosen as we ceaselessly attempt to meet the basic needs which are part of the human genetic structure. A deeper understanding of these needs helps us to build and maintain a good relationship with people as well as leading happier and satisfying lives. External control theory, on the other hand, refers to the degree by which people believe of having control over of the outcomes of events within their lives.
This is unopposed to external forces, a concept of believing that life is controlled by outside factors which we cannot influence. To this far, people with the strong belief of internal loci accepts that events in their lives are derived from their actions. While people with a firm belief of external locus label praise or blame on external factors. Based on rationalizing addic...
