Physical Geography

Rome sits as the capital city of Italy as well as the Capital of the Lazio region. It is located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, within Lazio, along the shores of the Tiber and it's affluent, the Aniene (Nicol, Shafir & Villanucci, 2014). Moreover, Rome's characterization is underscored by the seven hills which include Caeline, Aventine, Capitaline, Viminal, Quirinal, Palatine, and Esquiline. The Tiber river originated from the Apennine mountain and drained to the Tyrrhenian sea (Foot, 2020). These physical features encompassing the city of Rome are a source of its identity. As such, they briefly contribute to the climate experienced in Rome.

The Rome climate is mild while the winter climate tends to be humid while the summer climate is dry (Nicol, Shafir & Villanucci, 2014). Therefore, the daytime average temperature experienced in the city is about twenty degrees Celsius while the temperature experienced at night is around ten degrees Celsius (Nicol, Shafir & Villanucci, 2014). The climate experienced in Rome is attributed to the proximity of the city with the Tyrrhenian sea. The climatic conditions that result from Rome's physical features inadvertently affect the livelihood of the people living there. Therefore, the culture of the people living in Rome is subsequently affected by the physical geographic conditions of the surrounding area (Info Please, 2012).

Cultural Geography

The cultural geography of the city of Rome is vast and interconnected with the Roman Renaissance history. The underpinnings of cultural geography within Rome encompass arts, language, religion, libraries, cuisine, and fashion (Pica, Vergari, Fredi & Monte, 2016). The art, based on the Roman Renaissance, consequently made Rome the most artistic hub of the century (Foot, 2020). This is evidenced by famous artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Donatello, who influenced Rome's cultural landscape through their artistic works. Also, the Roman Renaissance that embodies Rome's culture was influenced by the Roman Catholic church, which succinctly led to the growth of the culture Pica, Vergari, Fredi & Monte, 2016).

The Roman Catholic Church influenced the creation of artistic work based on the Bible. As such, pieces of art, as well as institutions commissioned by the church, were established (Walch, 2019). Notable institutions housed by Rome include Vatican City, over nine hundred churches, and Rome's official cathedral. These institutions highlight the rich culture within Rome based on religious beliefs and lead to a manifestation of the language and the cuisine of the city. The language and the city's cuisine underpin the rich cultural heritage within the confines of the city Pica, Vergari, Fredi & Monte, 2016). The official language of Rome's city is Italian, which stems from the former language of Latin. As such, the Italian language is ubiquitous in and around the city. The city's cuisine that underlines the native culture in Rome is based on Rome's seasonal ingredients. It is common parlance to find certain dishes being served during certain days of the week.

Political Geography

Rome is the capital city of Italy thus the president of the Republic of Italy lives in the city and currently resides in the Quirinal palace. This makes the city an epicenter of political co-existence. Additionally, Rome plays host to the Italian parliament and the home to the Italian Prime minister and other ministers (Info Please, 2012). The institutions within Rome underpin the city's political geography and thus play a vital role in the country's foreign affairs. The City of Rome advances foreign affairs through congregational facilities. As such, Rome congregates foreign embassies to both Italy and the Vatican. This is subsequently evidenced by the 1957 presentation of Rome's treaty, which recognized the European economic community, the forerunner to the European Union (Bjornlie, 2012). Strictly speaking, Rome has played a crucial role in establishing many international organizations based in Rome.

The Future of the City of Rome

The architecture in Rome is based on Greek architecture, and as such, it constitutes technological development that highlights Rome's future. Its potent is underscored by its candidature to host the Summer Olympics 2020 (City Vision, 2020). As such, the city brings forth both experience and equipment to realize events as it seeks to ensure there is easy mobility in the city that would provide a conducive environment. Therefore, this great architecture in Rome has consequently led to the formulation of an alternative urban plan for posterity. The establishment of an urban plan underscores a prospective future for the city. The problems of urban mobility have succinctly necessitated a new look at city life (City Vision, 2020). As such, efforts meant to remedy the situation have been instituted, which seeks to ensure that mobility within the city is safer and comfortable for the people. Further, these efforts seek to minimize conflicts such as noise and pollution in the city. The improvements through urban planning have consequently promoted the establishment of attractive facilities in Rome.

The EUR business district in Rome boasts the establishment of new attraction sites in Rome (Rome Apartments, 2011). The most recent attraction site, which is of significant significance to Rome's posterity, is the sea life aquarium. As a current establishment, the attraction boasts having over one hundred species from the seas and the oceans (Nicol, Shafir & Villanucci, 2014). As such, the exciting aquarium provides additional leisure to the people of Rome. Consequently, it has promptly improved the city's outlook and prompted the establishment of the New Rome temple, which goes as far as forming the basis of a tourist hub within Rome. The establishment of the new Rome temple signifies a bright future for the church in Rome. The building's unique architecture during the day and at night is a marvelous spectacle (Tad,2019). Additionally, the new temple has established a more substantial religious presence in Rome and an underpinning of spiritual power. Therefore, the new structure denotes a tremendous cultural and economic future ahead in Rome.

As per the proceeding, it is evident that Rome's cultural, physical, and political geography has contributed immensely to its state of greatness. As such, Rome's development has been attributed to the positive steps that are being undertaken to ensure that the geographical contributors are well taken care of and maintained. It is worth noting that most of these geographical contributors are inextricably intertwined with the history of Rome's city. Therefore, the self-preservation that arises from the need to maintain the aspects of the city's cultural and political elements underscores the greatness that the city boasts.

The current situation occasioned by emerging of the Coronavirus has directly damaged the city tourism industry. Rome city has experienced an estimated loss of around 20 billion Euros with fears that the losses may double as the situation continues. Continuity in the case depicts a dangerous future for the country due to a sudden reduction of foreign currency and jobs losses. There is also a possibility for a change in the country's arts, culture, and religious policies. For instance, Rome's city continues to advocate for an increase in the number of travelers entering the country. These sights depict the entry of new people who possess different cultures and religions to the city.
