Art plays an essential role in society. Art is responsible for shaping society, and this is because art introduces people to different new ideas as well as perspectives concerning a specific topic. A large percentage of individuals have artists as their role models, and this increases the need for ethics in both their art-related works as well as their lifestyle. Art is hugely influenced as it influences our sense, thoughts, reasoning, as well as emotions. The idea that a few individuals pay to see a science experiment and a large number of people pay to visit the cinema is a good reason as to why artwork should have ethics.
In many professionality, the critical elements of the code of ethics include integrity, honesty in their operations or business dealings, abiding by the civil laws and regulations, discloser of any conflict of interest as well as countability in any professional activities as well as do no harm (Association, n.d.). While these elements apply to the artist, they limit their expression in the matter that affects the society. However, the artists are expected to honor all the contracts that they enter into voluntarily (Association, n.d.). All the work that an artist produces and presents to the market ought to be their original work, even give the fact that other collaborators were involved. They have an ethical obligation to disclose the harm that might or could be caused by their works
Of utmost importance is that artists influence the society and many people emulate them, they present a voice of many people, and the condo ethic might limit the artist from breaking the law, invade other people's privacy. Additionally, they should present their original work on top of not causing anyone harm intentionally. However, the artists might break the code of ethics and value in the case where the right of the larger population is being ignored. And this has a profound effect on the astronomical community as well as the population's moral outlook.
However, it is essential to note that the artists should be held accountable for their work and the impact that it has on the general population. The extent to the accountability of the artwork is, however, dependent on the severity of the impact that was caused. In case an artwork causes panic in the population, then the artist stands to face a jail term. Additionally, if the art broke the law, also they might face a lawsuit.
In conclusion, the artists impact society through their work, and they can potentially change the way a specific topic or subject is perceived, and owing to this. They are expected to act morally responsible or withing the confined code of ethics. However, in some cases, they have a right to challenge these ethics for the betterment of the general population. However, in any case, they are accountable for the impact that their work has on the general population.
