Introduction

The United States consists of three arms of the government known as the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. The Executive arm of the government is chaired by the President of the United States and implements the laws passed by the Legislative branch (Congress). The legislature is used to make laws, and Congress is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senators are elected and nominated in each state in the country. The role of the representatives is to join forces and analyze ideas and decide if the policies presented need to be implemented into laws. The Judicial arm of the government is made up of the Supreme Court and 9 Justices. The role of the judges is to analyze laws based on the Constitution. Also, they listen to cases to matters associated with the Constitution. They are described as the most powerful court in the country.

Article V of the United States determines different ways in which the Constitution can be changed. Congress ensures that two-thirds of its members are in support of the motion before passing a bill. The Preamble of the U.S Constitution is used to set a stage for the Constitution that outlines the legislature's perspectives and the document (Klarman 865). Also, it is viewed as the highest law of the land, but it does not outline the powers of government or individual rights. Article 1, Section 2, states that the House of Representatives should be made up of Members elected every second Year by the People from different states. Additionally, Electors in each state must have the qualifications requisite for the Electors of the most numerous Branch of the Legislature. Also, any candidate vying for the Representative seat should be twenty-five and a citizen of the United States for the past seven years.

"A bill of rights is what the people are entitled to go against every government on earth," Thomas Jefferson. In 1738, American colonists defied all odds that had just affected the United Kingdom, the Western hemisphere's preeminent power, in the American War for Independence. In 1787, disgruntled colonists decided to send delegates to Philadelphia to analyze the dysfunctional Articles of Confederation. In a racial departure, most of the representatives decided to amend the existing Constitution instead of creating a new Constitution. Based on James Madison's policies, the delegates decided to form a new United States government with three branches: the legislature, executive, and judiciary.

Economic Policy

The federal government allocates grants to states and localities for various purposes, but a considerable percentage goes to the healthcare sector. For instance, in 2019, the government gave more than 700 billion to states and localities in its financial Year. Sixty percent of the funds were assigned to healthcare, 15 percent to income security programs, and 10 percent to transportation and education, employment, training, and social services. However, in different cases, the federal government can regulate the responsibilities of given service to states and local governments because they have first-hand information on local preferences and costs. Additionally, it can decide to grant states and localities incentives that will help them in funding their constituents (Tushnet, Graber and Levinson). Economic policy is a federal policy that affects the roles of the branches of government in ensuring equal sharing of resources. This example interests me in understanding the allocation of funds that will help in improving the living standards of people.
