Federalism is undoubtedly one of the most significant and innovative concepts in the American constitution. The concept involves power-sharing between the state and national governments. In the U.S, the states were first in existence and there was a quest to form a national government. The American constitution is ingrained with the strains of that struggle and a debate still exists about the proper role of this compound system of government. As such, this text seeks to highlight the significance of federalists in the history of the United States. Thesis statement: The Federalists were important since they helped to push for a constitution that would safeguard the liberty and independence created by the United States Revolution.
