Introduction

Good and effective leadership techniques are paramount in the amplification of team excellence. Leaders who are extra-ordinary inspire the people under their control to be great. They are as well responsible for helping the growth, and eventually, they attain performance levels that are high than they possibly thought at first. Team leadership is no always easy (Barnes, & Spangenburg, 2018). Leaders manage their subordinate's expectations in addition to their egos (Wilson, n.d.). Additionally, they ensure that people under their leadership stay tasked. On top of these, leaders have a great responsibility to manage themselves. Difficulties experienced by leaders call upon the application of various techniques that best work to lead their people effectively.

Leaders as Kings

The 1 Kings narrates of several leaders who led God's people. Kings: David, Solomon, Rehoboam, Abijah, Asa, Nadab, and Baasha have their leadership explained in the book. Each leader utilized unique techniques of leadership, best thought for their people, constraints, and environments. Scholars claimed Kings David, Solomon, and Rehoboam as being the most inspiring to their people. In their view, inspiration entails exemplary leading and praising people for remaining motivating others. As inspirers, leaders communicated goals and objectives earlier and with clarity to ensure success in any event undertaken under their authority. The identification of dissatisfaction combined with their redress and letting the subordinated air their views are the greatest inspirers. Scholars have depicted Kings as leaders who are God-fearing and, without asking their people questions for clarification, portrayed bad leadership examples.

An excellent exemplary leadership entails taking and acceptance of personal responsibility. In furtherance to this, leaders are responsible for the outcome of their duty: success or failure. Leaders leading by good example work alongside their people. In an example, King David, with the help of his people, instructed Zadok (priest), Nathan (prophet), and Jehoidian son to be called for the anointing of his successor, Solomon (1 Kings 1: 32).

Authoritarian and Dictatorship

In contrast to this is bad leadership, which use the authoritarian and dictatorship to its people. Bad leaders develop ambitiousness of the most astounding level possible and not support the lead. Bad techniques of leadership, therefore, keep dictatorial leaders to demand over their subordinates. At King David's old age, Adonijah secured the Israelites kingship less anointment and blessing from King David. Adonijah was ambitious of being the king of Israel and took the leadership lack of king David's reprimand (1 Kings 1: 5-6). At first, King Solomon was meek to God and was rewarded with the gift of wisdom. When he accessioned the throne, King Solomon suddenly made several changes in administration. Three offices were newly created in Solomon's cabinet. In contrast, King David governed the Israelites almost single-handed. He involved a general commander, and secretaries added the chief scribes. The creation of the Prime-Minister (Ahishar) and the forced labor chief (Adoniram) portrayed a leadership style that only ended oppressing the subordinates categorized into slaved foreign laborers and the newly recruited and organized Israelite forced labor.

A governor was raised to overrule the 12 Israelite districts. By doing these, King Solomon fell from the honor of God. Being less charismatic, king Solomon failed to get inspiration from God. Due to this, there developed dis-unity among the 12 Israelite districts. Quarrels increased from all tribes, especially during the Canaanite military conquest. Above all, was the imposition of taxes that best helped manage the 12-district administrations developed.

By turning away from God, king Solomon intermarried several foreign women (1 Kings 11: 1-11). Some of the women were from the tribes God commanded Israelites to intermarry with.

He further began to worship other gods, a violation of the laws of Moses. Similarly, the women started to disobey God as they followed the strayed ways of king Solomon. Bad leadership consequences involve people turning enemies of their arrogant leaders and eventually, removing them from the leadership position held (LaMarco, 2019). For instance, Hadad was turned by God to act as king Solomon's or the Israelite's bitter enemy. Despite these, King Solomon gave an excellent exemplary leadership.

Conclusion

In his leadership, King Solomon listened and judged a difficult over two prostitutes with whom one claimed with truthfulness, her child. Through the use of wisdom, King Solomon tried to ask for clarification about the child's death correlated with the living child. Being impartial, Solomon was incredibly honored. As an example of leaders who applied good leadership, kings from all parts of the world heard his wisdom and sent their people to listen to him (1 Kings 4: 34). Due to this, King Solomon's reign was successful.
