Non-verbal communication comprises the passing of information the use of the whole body. Different parts and aspects of the body are involved in the non-verbal communication process, including the communicating party's appearance and posture. Without the use of verbal communication, the proper mastery of non-verbal communication will enable the people to undertake the communication process to effectively pass the message that they wish to communicate even when their verbal capabilities have been disabled or are unavailable.
Another aspect of non-verbal communication is the use of tonal variations, which may pass the information on the communicating party's intentions, attitudes, and the knowledge that they wish to pass across. For example, the use of a loud tone will help the recipient of the communication know that the person giving the message assumes that the sender assumes that they are not being heard or that the increase of volume will help pass the message across better.
The workplace involves the use of verbal and non-verbal communication to pass messages across. In some instances, verbal communication may be unavailable due to the requirements of silence in the workplace, or the communicator opting for the use of non-verbal communication to add more weight to the verbal communication that they may have already undertaken.
Therefore, the effective use of non-verbal communication is as equally important as verbal communication in helping the organization achieve its goals. Some occupations require non-verbal communication for the communicating party to communicate the information they seek to pass across effectively. Some occupations require both verbal and non-verbal communication for the information they seek to pass across to the recipients of the messages they need to pass across.
Therefore, non-verbal communication is an effective way through which the members of an organization can enhance their communication and teamwork in the long run. The use of non-verbal communication to improve communication will, in turn, lead to increased organizational success. Therefore, it is correct to conclude that non-verbal communication will help an organization build up its capacity to improve teamwork and its performance in the long run.
In my opinion, I believe that my perspectives on the use of non-verbal communication in an organization will change from now moving forward. The use of non-verbal cues is essential in establishing more cues and passing more information to the people to whom the data is being given to, increasing the quality of the information being passed from the sender to the recipient.
Additionally, my opinions on what passes as non-verbal communication have been changed. Previously, I only assumed that body language is essential in communication and did not involve verbal communication. However, through this article, I have learned of the role played by non-verbal communication in enhancing the quality of verbal communication to the people concerned since the use of non-verbal communication is vital in the communication process.
I had also not known of an existing link between non-verbal cues and the achievement of teamwork in an organization until I read this article. Through the article, I have learned to improve verbal communication and the achievement of better communication in the organization. Better communication results in the achievement of excellent performance in the organization. Therefore, this raises the need for organizations to develop efficient communication processes that also accommodate non-verbal communication.
