Introduction

Los Angeles is one of the most populous regions worldwide because of the numerous factors that favor many people's settlement. Therefore, there is a lot of pressure on the resources available. One of the major issues people have to deal with is the challenge regarding the logistics options available, air travel being a major issue of concern. There are many regional airports and a major international airport available to serve the people's air travel needs in the region (Parrella, 2013). However, despite the many options that the people have, there is pressure on the airports available. The airports are always a busy hub because of people's frequent departures and arrivals in large numbers. The airports are at different locations; therefore, travelers' time to reach each of them is different. The congestion, therefore, affects the options that travelers have, based on their convenience and preferences.

Furthermore, the various airports vary in their schedules, whereby some are busier than others, affecting travelers' choices across various regional destinations. Here exists competition among the airports available, based on the type of services that each offers to the clients. The airports have different types of airplanes based on the destinations they serve. For example, the international airport, LAX, has more options because of the wide range of destinations it serves (Appold, 2015). Moreover, there is an issue with passenger choice dynamics, which combine to affect the customers' preference regarding the airports they use for their travel.

First, there are surface access issues, where the accessibility of the airport affects the passengers' opinion, whether or not they should use it for travel. Moreover, there is the availability of services needed by passengers. For example, LAX has more services because of its status, airlines serving it, and the wide range of destinations it covers. Continuous service availability and Differing dynamics at peripheral airports are some of the other determinants of the preference by passengers of the various airports (Cidell, 2015). Lastly, there is the issue about the airline choice dynamics the passengers have to deal with as they search for the best airlines to satisfy their needs. The legacy carriers provide better facilities, majorly from the LAX to major destinations across the world. The other option is the low cot couriers, which operate among the other airports, with limited international destinations. Therefore, passengers have to choose the option that satisfies their interests better.

Methods

The significant variable that was used in the research was the number of people in the Los Angeles Lake Basin region and the pressure available regarding air travel. Although there are several airports, there is pressure to satisfy the needs of all the passengers. Therefore, there was a collection of data reflecting the number of active passengers. There was a comparison between the number of passengers and the facilities available. From the comparison, it was realized that there is pressure on the resources available because of the high number of people available in the region, which creates pressure on the available travel resources.

Results

The research's significant variable was the number of people in the region, which was changing annually. There was an average increase in the number of people every year, while the services remained the same. Therefore, there was an increase in the pressure on the resources available, which was forecasted to increase shortly. The Las Angeles region is the third most populous place globally, which shows the pressure on the available facilities. Therefore, there must be set guidelines that will reduce the stress on the available airports. Moreover, there was an increase in per capita income for over ten years, which means more people could afford airline travel to various destinations (Storper et al., 2015). The affordability of air travel increased the pressure on airports to satisfy the needs of the passengers. There was also an increase in air traffic, where airlines increased the number of flights to the region to fulfill the region's growing demand. However, some destinations had more demand for travel services, which raised the need for prioritizing some destinations over others. Lastly, there was the issue of accessibility of the airports because of a large number of people accessing them. The factors highlighted to reflect the pressure the region faces in satisfying the growing demand for air travel services.

Discussion

Population growth is at the center of the pressure on air travel in the Los Angeles basin. The region is a hub of business activities, which attracts more people annually. Therefore, there will always be more people traveling to the area, highlighting the prospects of more pressure on the amenities. Although there are many options for travelers, the stress will always be experienced because of the lack of appropriate expansion to fit the high demand schedule's needs. Therefore, there must be an expansion of the travel options to address the increased demand schedule.

Conclusion

Los Angeles is one of the busiest places globally because it is a hub for various activities that individuals seek. Therefore, there must be better planning, which will enhance the satisfaction of air travel needs. There are many airports in the region; however, the pressure cannot be effectively addressed because of the ever-increasing travel needs that have to be met. Therefore, there needs to be collaboration and better strategies that will relieve the airports and airlines of the pressure.
