Google Company Overview
Google's mission statement is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." (Mission Statement Academy, 2019). How has Google accomplished this? Through a crucial strategy using its search engine optimization to collect and arrange data for easier use and convenience. The company has made access to virtually any information possible through the click of a button, (Thompson, 2019) Furthermore, Google offers a common platform where people can access, share or upload any digital content. The company's ability to capture and personalize individual personal information makes it a preferred choice for its competitors. Also, the increased internet connectivity experience currently has made it accessible globally further growing its market.
Google has one of the best work cultures in the world today. The company's corporate philosophy advocates for ethical work performance with principles like, "you can make money without being evil" (Wikipedia, 2020). It not only focuses on the organization's fulfillment, but it also encourages staff to take time to self discover. A motivational policy known as "Innovation Time Off" allows engineers to take up to 20% time off from work projects and focus on personal projects that interest them. Google's inclusive work culture creates an environment where staff can freely present innovations appreciated by the management.
I consider Google as a learning organization because it constantly changes and adapts to new trends while training employees to stay competitive. I greatly believe Google will be able to overcome its weaknesses of over dependency on online businesses due to its high adaptability and accommodation to change. A recent analysis by (Google SWOT Analysis, 2019) indicated the company is shifting from online advertisements to other revenue platforms. Reduced dependency on online advertisement could allow the company to redirect its focus on hardware innovation and investments.
