The first eleven chapters of the Bible describes the events from creation and the eleventh chapter ends with the human race being dispersed after Gods wrath was evoked as mens arrogance made them build a tower to heaven. In between are stories of the death of Abel at the hands of his brother Cain, the building of the ark by Noah and the eventual destruction of the earth through floods after mans sinfulness was beyond bounds, Noahs drunkenness and the cursing of his son Ham for his indiscretion. Eve is the most prominent woman in the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis, and her relationship with the divine can be amply examined.

God created Eve out of Adams rib to offer companionship to lonely Adam. They were commanded not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Eve was however tempted by the serpent and ate from the tree that God had forbidden. She also gave Adam the fruit to eat. This marked the beginning of the fall of man and an end to a close relationship between man and God in the Garden of Eden, as a result of this act of disobedience, the man was banished from the garden.

It is clear that Eve did not fully grasp the nature of God or his abounding love because if she did she would not have believed the fabricated lie that God was holding something good from her. In essence, God forbade the eating of the fruit so that the relationship existing in the garden would not be disrupted. Satan made Eve believe that God did not have her best interests at heart, and that is the avenue the serpent used to tempt her. Before the fall, Adam and Eve had no knowledge of what was bad. Everything about them was good. The fall, however, led to an even greater good, a demonstration of Gods love for His creation for a restored relationship with mankind through His Son.

Before the coming of the Son of God, however, Eve had to face the consequences of his disobedience. She had to endure pangs of pain during childbearing as well as being under the submission of man. Besides these, she had to witness all forms of evil associated with a fallen world devoid of a relationship with God-murder, sexual immorality and suffering. As human beings, we are susceptible and usually inclined to sin which acts as a barrier between a holy God and us. Though this was and is still the case, God had a plan to restore the lost relationship. He put in place rules to be respected by every man, failure to which it would attract punishment. This did not help as mans nature was not capable of obeying all Gods commands. To restore the broken relationship at the Garden of Eden, God sent his Son Jesus Christ as an atoning sacrifice to cleanse all mans unrighteousness so as we can stand clean before Him.

The relationship between the divine and Eve in the first eleven chapters of the Bible paint a grim picture of the suffering caused by disobedience and sin. This broken relationship, however, would form the foundation of the beginning of a restored relationship between man and God through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ who shed His blood to blot out mans transgressions. The broken relationship gave way to Gods plan for the redemption of man.
