The website article expounds on common saying, "Smile and the world smiles with you." Do you agree or disagree with the perspective of the article? Why do you agree or disagree?

I agree with the perspective of this article as it genuinely applies to most leaders and managers that smiles are contagious. I believe that managers and leaders must lead from the front. In this case, they set the tone for the moods and actions of employees. It is important to note that the behavior and attitude of a leader or a manager drive the mood and behavior of their staffs. A short-tempered manager ignores opportunities and creates loss in an organization due to the failure to adjust their behavior (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2001). A leader needs to have a positive mood and attitude that they can spread more with humor, to keep employees in a positive atmosphere.

What is the importance of the process of resonance as related to emotional intelligence?

Leader's behavior and attitude must be realistic and genuine for them to resonate with others. They must have the ability to solve conflicts, build strong relationships and great bonds, and communicate clearly with people around them. A resonant leader empowers and motivates their co-workers since emotional intelligence plays a critical role in holding such connections (Boyatzis, Smith, Van Oosten, and Woolford, 2013). Moreover, leaders who practice resonance enrich their emotional intelligence by working hard to ensure development in specific areas like self-awareness.

What is the first step in the process of developing emotional intelligence? What would you say is the most challenging part of this process?

The first step in developing the emotional intelligence process is self-awareness. A leader must be aware of their emotions and feelings. People who are cognizant of their strengths and weaknesses remain assertive and self-driven to focus on their goals. As a result, other people are touched by their operations hence they provide their staff with a conducive working environment that is enjoyable (Northouse, 2016). The most challenging part of the process is the one concerning gauging a leader's mood correctly as well as their instinctive of how they are touching those around them. This part requires a leader to have a great deal of determination and practice. Notably, the process of will have various setbacks and challenges but it will help more in developing leaders that are able to control other people moods and have self-awareness.
