With the increasing focus on personalized Long Term Care (LTC) homes, appropriate leadership is often a topic of interest in effectively implementing this kind of care. Effective leadership is critical in providing people over 65 years of age with the best possible care. Therefore, availing nursing homes and involving relatives in a healthy environment is recommended. In this document, an in-depth insight will be provided, exploring the “big picture’ of a Long Term Care. There exists a relationship between some traits of leadership and amicable results for all the involved in LTC. In guiding leaders toward a positive direction in LTC homes, it is essential to support them by redefining potentially successful programs that offer them support in LTC leadership.
One of the aims of comprehending effective leadership in LTC is to provide healthcare services in the LTC that are successful, meaningful, and desirable. Through the body “American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA),” recruitment is usually performed voluntarily, and then the selected are trained in administering a healthcare facility (Cooper, 2010). The global population is aging at a rate never experienced and individuals living longer, which has catapulted the need for LTC. Individuals, as they age, may develop Alzheimer’s disease that tampers with the neurons in the brain bringing about memory loss, confusion, and less involvement in decision-making (Gaugler et al., 2019). In the final stages of Alzheimer’s disease, the individuals are bound by the bed and need round-the-clock care as their minds cannot process the once simple tasks of taking care of themselves. Therefore, the need comes for active administrators to ensure that the individuals are well taken care of.
Aging globally is a significant issue in eldercare. Knowing that dealing with the LTC is a clock affair, there is a need for policymakers to articulate necessary policies in support of the aging population and LTCs. Three general principles are fundamental in effecting LTC: “provision,” a desirable goal that will aid in the development of long-term care services; “financing,” whereby a well-scrutinized system can be used in financing LTC; and “quality assurance” that adheres to LTC development and operation of delivery (Feng, 2019). Therefore, with appropriate leadership integration in LTC, the aging population can be guaranteed proper care and need not worry about the worst once aging commences.References
