Introduction
The paper presents valid arguments about community-based organizations that focus on human services. Through the argument, the report explains different ways in which community-based organizations foster effective administration and management (Oliver Wyman, 2018). The report further indicates that these community-based organizations, either large or small, are vital in society. The organizations have enhanced development by promoting productive and healthier lives. The report also discusses how community-based organizations have promoted development in different sectors such as employment, the economy, and the community in general.
Different Challenges
The report succeeds in addressing different challenges that community-based organizations (CBOs) may face in their daily operations. The report indicates most community-based organizations struggle to meet their financial needs. Notably, the report provides “North Star” initiatives that inform us about the need of different stakeholders in the human services sector to promote better human services. The “North Star” initiatives focus on improving community-based organizations’ internal operations while the focus on the ability of the community-based organizations to measure their success.
The report needs to discuss how community-based organizations must engage other sectors to promote their operations. Indicating various ways that the community-based organizations can utilize will allow the organization to improve their operations. Community-based organizations play a vital role in society; there is a need to continue empowering them with the knowledge to ensure they keep helping the less fortunate.
Human Services Ecosystem
The human services ecosystem can transform society in various ways. First, the human services ecosystem promotes civilization, which translates to development in different sectors. The human services ecosystem entails human services CBOs that work together with the County Department of Human Services (DHS) to ensure they provide the much-needed service to the people. The human services ecosystem allows different stakeholders to contribute funds to aid in delivering critical services to people. These services include education, housing, employment supports, and even transportation.
The report suggests that people will have a hard time seeking treatment with the lack of support from the human services ecosystem. The report also indicates that lacking support may make other people being jailed. I believe the report is right to say the lack of support will affect many residents. Most people depend on the services; hence, they will be influenced negatively if the services are lack strength (Reid, 2016). Offering support to the needy population will eliminate health problems. Eliminating these health problems will ensure that people lead healthy lifestyles and reducing the risk of ending up in the criminal justice system.
The report outlines that the number of human services CBOs as of 2017 was 210,000. The CBOs promote economic growth in the country since they generate a significant amount of revenue (Oliver Wyman, 2018). More so, they are a source of employment, which facilitates the delivery of different support services to the residents effectively. Although the current system has many advantages for society, different areas need improvement. These areas include developing better financial risk management capabilities and ensuring that the government supports quality support services.
Various Perspectives
There are various perspectives on the roadblocks and challenges outlined in the report. First, the report outlines that even if the financial policies and practices are introduced and modernized, whether the CBOs will have the capacity to fund their investment still exists. As such, CBOs must adopt new investments and changes to promote financial stability (Reid, 2016). Second, the CBOs have to determine the overall impact that the healthcare and criminal and correction will have on their investment (Oliver Wyman, 2018). If the CBOs fail to make an adequate investment, they may experience hard times trying to meet their financial needs.
The “North Star” initiatives provide efficient guidelines to ensure that CBOs operate optimally. Adopting the initiatives will ensure that the CBOs are financially sound, promoting their service delivery to the needy population. The long-term effects of implementing these solutions will help improve the health and wellbeing of the general population (Oliver Wyman, 2018). The ability to promote financially sound CBOs will allow for the development of a better human services ecosystem. Although the report has provided crucial information to enhance the performance and development of CBOs, it fails to mention some challenges that CBOs may face. These challenges include environmental challenges, which may impair their operations in different areas under their jurisdiction.
The report provides a clear overview of the challenges, obstacles, and initiatives that influence the CBOs differently. Discussing the challenges allows CBOs to understand how they can manage them and optimize their operations despite being faced by these challenges (Schaefer et al., 2015). More so, the “North Star” initiatives provide efficient guidelines to the CBOs to overcome challenges they are experiencing today. If the CBOs implement these guidelines, they will enhance their operations in different sectors allowing them to continue offering the crucial services to people who need them.
Conclusion
Human service organizations need to work in tandem with each other to promote their success in the future. Working together will allow these organizations to develop fresh ideas and promote efficient and maximum use of the available resources. Forming partnerships will help organizations overcome longstanding challenges and obstacles. Adopting this approach will ensure that these organizations develop relationships toward achieving a common goal of providing critical support.
