The informatory role played by the media enlightens the world on real-time happenings especially when the audience lacks immediate experience or understanding. Hence, the press is the principal perception builder on people understanding of sub-cultural practices of communities away from their boundaries. Press has in the recent age made the world a global village in the provision of vast connectivity and exposure to the ways of lives of others. China has in the last three decades witnessed significant reformation of the political, economic, social, and ethical diversification. Massive coverage through different platforms of mass media has enlightened the world on the current happenings in China (Lams, 2014). This paper will make a rhetorical analysis of the role of media in the transitional growth of the perception of the Chinese culture due to the level of publication, media viewpoint, and representation social change. Through this analysis, the paper will demonstrate the impact of media technology in constructing public awareness and attitude toward the Chinese culture.
Different forms of media technologies, television, press, movies, and internet communications to the public on the global happenings. A majority of the people are reliant on media for particular information out of their reach. The manner of presenting news in certain types of media platforms set the agenda and influences the public's focus on specific subjects about a group of people to inform the public debate on particular sub-cultural aspects of the people (Philo & Berry, 2011). In the Chinese media, narratives shape the discourse of the concerns and sensitivity of the Chinese culture and social representation. Local and international media shape the public debate on particular subjects affecting the way of life in China to enlighten the audience of the principals, characteristics, and the perception of the Chinese's culture, politics and social status. For instance, the regular publication in New York Times, BBC News, and The Guardian on the industrial coverage of the Chinese economy draws a positive perception of China as an economic hub. On the other hand, on the same platform, the negative posterities on the high population and some unpopular cultural practices give forms a hostile image on the same country. It's thus important to note that the audience attitude and perception of a particular sub-culture derived from the elements of publicity portrayed by the media.
The open public attitude and connection with the communicated information on media facilitate the social changes in belief patterns enticed by the illustrated image from the broadcasted side of the story causing audience acceptance or rejection of the report. The attitudinal shifts that contribute to public acceptance or rejection of media information depend on the audience's level of exposure or prior understanding of the new theory in the disseminated information. Chinese diversification has over the years being in the public domain in the media eye. Different publications and news have over the years of circulation on various dimensions of China ranging from politics and leadership, revolution, and cultural practices owing to the vast media reformation globally. Through media exposure, Chinese values have received revolutionized rhetoric perspective in the identification of the changes exemplifying China transformation (Perlez, 2016).
In the past Chinese representation in news coverage made transitional changes to depict confrontation and controversy of the pressure imparted on the cultural images posing undesirable consequences to the Chinese community and the recipient audience. The media image drawn by the live opinionated broadcast of the information showing the way of life in China portrayed controversial and unprecedented actions defecting from the firm and deep-rooted Chinese traditions. On the positive publicity of the community of China diverse coverage of features entrepreneurship of the population in and outside their boundaries opened up the reformative involvement with other leading economists in business ventures to ensure that they confront extraordinary odds in capitalists' situations (Wu, 2005). The impact of media technology in constructing public awareness and attitude toward the Chinese culture creates third-party audience understanding on the diversification of the way of life in China and critical understanding of the drive and inspirations of this developed economy. The advance coverage by media of Chinese engagement in industrial and entrepreneurship ventures has given the community different position in the broader society. The media coverage of their participation in the global development of revolution in industrial and technological expertise provides the community with considerable respect to the uninformed audience (Shi, 2012).
Public discourse transverses to persuasion from the previously held coercion gained through propaganda provided by press. Media plays the 'mouthpiece' role in disseminating direct and crucial information that shapes the decision and understanding positions held by the public domain. For instance, the political climate in China during the Mao reign fell under massive publication across the globe forcing unprecedented consensus and legitimacy. The political and social classification struggles displayed chaotic positioning of the Cultural Revolution. The ideological propaganda presented on media platforms shifted the vertical forms of communication to horizontal strategies of conversation that resulted in a forced public display. Application of positive Chinese discourse during the reign of Mao turned the negative labeling to positive communist legitimacy (Shi, 2012).
Official media coverage amplifies the connection between the context, content, and concept of discourse dissemination in and out of China. General understanding and appreciation of rhetorical attribute of the newscast in television, movies or newspapers to persuade the audience appreciation and respect of the cultural and political representation of China. The historical transition of sub-cultural discourses attributes to the level of persuasion. The rhetorical promotion of socialism on media perception and persuasion positions the good and nobility representation of the cultural proposition. The multi-faceted strategies illustrated of the values of the Chinese population portray extraordinary skills and prosperity in an exhibition of innovation and revolution of the commercial and modernization of technology to display the qualities of hard work assimilated by the Chinese people. The elements of altruism and devotion relayed by global Chinese discourse overlap the coercive propaganda of the traditional regime in Chinese territories. The relay of selfless characteristics and hard work properties of the people signify the portray of changes mode of the people to the global eye eager to learn and familiarize themselves with the cultural elements that constitute the Chinese population and the political arena of the growing governing regimes (Wu, 2005).
Evaluation on the relationship between audience perception and information dissemination depends on the media point of view in the side they are telling the story. Ignorance and illiteracy on specific subjects derived from the media perception and support for or against the topic give the unsuspecting audience deviating versions of the story depending on their rhetorical positioning on the discourse. The critical element of persuasion lies in the sophisticated level of the broadcaster to give credibility of the source or position of information negotiated to the audience in charge of the audience climate on behavioral and perception connection. The media is the principal perception builder on people understanding of sub-cultural practices of communities away from their boundaries. Press has in the recent age made the world a global village in the provision of vast connectivity and exposure to the ways of lives of others. In conclusion, Information presented in the different forms of media accounts offer the critical position of the audiences power to understand the legitimacy and authenticity of the actions portrayed. Submitted information facilitates the audience with a collective bargain on the limit and shapes the perception of the subject. The same story or line of information is presented by different media accounts like the television, movies, or news press to signify different perspectives depending on the authorities viewpoint of the whole ordeal. Enhancing positive publicity of the Chinese community requires different coverage of features entrepreneurship of the population in and outside their boundaries opened up the reformative involvement with other leading economists in business ventures to ensure that they confront extraordinary odds in capitalists' situations. The progress coverage by media of Chinese commitment to industrial and entrepreneurship undertakings has given the community different status on the broader society. The media attention on their participation in the global development of revolution in industrial and technological expertise provides the community with considerable respect to the uninformed audience.
