The COVID-19 pandemic has been a significant blow to our lives, and everyone has felt the effect of life having to slow down for a little because they are scared of death. I have had a hard time adjusting to fit in the current principles and guidelines on how to behave and take care of myself, unlike before, where I could engage in all activities. I have witnessed that the pandemic is real and that people are getting complications out of the disease and hence the need to protect myself from things that may make me come into contact with the contagious virus.
The pandemic has impacted the way I think about my purpose in life, such that I should not take it for granted because such a severe condition could wipe us all out of the face of the earth. The outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in the closure of many educational institutions all over the world. Our institution has equally suffered the same fate. Many students had to be sent home, with most universities resorting to continuing teaching online.
However, as most institutions rush to transition online, they are quick to disregard the essence of physical learning in studying. Most students who seek to study abroad often target enhancing their global skillset and broadening their theoretical perspectives on several issues. It is only through such physical experiences that one can fully benefit from internalization. This way, I like to think of the aspect that my purpose in life can change at any minute because of how the pandemic affected education.
The COVID pandemic has also affected my existence as a human being on the planet because there will be things that will happen and mean that one does not need to exist. An example is the fact that the pandemic has rendered human labor useless because the use of robots can replace it.
The creation of robots from technology has led to many people losing their jobs amidst the pandemic because the precautions require people to maintain social distancing while machines are way better as they do not need such guidelines. Humanoid robots will participate in many responsibilities since their intelligence are comparable to human skills. Even though AI is a more potent force toward intelligence, human intelligence is superior, and the control of humanoid robots is inevitable.
Even though robots are created in a very effective manner, they can still be controlled and killed by experienced technological experts. Androids were able to kill human beings in the police station and on Mars, yet humans could control the robots. The ability of human beings to control androids can be questionable. It means that robots threaten the need for the existence of human beings because more organizations find it practical to use them and not be responsible for other people who may get affected by the coronavirus. An example is the case of manufacturing companies who will prefer to use robots for human activities because of a reduction in the number of workers while following the guidelines.
Human beings cannot control robots. After its creation, a robot becomes an independent individual, just like human beings, when they are born. They can think on their own, form habits, and even defend themselves when they are threatened. Robots can think and overtime form their colony, which is a representative of the human genome. Territories are to be protected, and robots will do everything within their power to take over the human race. This way, I get to question whether I will ever get a job if organizations do not need humans, and in case the pandemic persists, it will even be worse.
COVID-19 crisis has also affected how I think about the end of my own life because it could happen at any time, given the circumstances. In the case of a school, I am required to attend classes, but that also means the same for the rest of the students in my class. This way, it is not easy to maintain the precautions of social distancing, especially at the cafeteria where one may get infected very quickly.
The crisis has affected how I think about the end of the world as a whole because it seems to be near. Readers of the Bible will quote the instance where God wanted to wipe out the Egyptians by sending them the ten plagues. The contagiousness of COVID-19 can be related to the plagues from the fact that every country has had a case. This way, it is right to think that the end of the world is near and that people should be ready.
I also think that there is a need for mythology to make sense of it all. It is the case of looking at the bigger picture such that people will know how to deal with the issue at hand and be prepared in case it is time. The impacts of the crisis have been quite evident from the death of a lot of people whose existence was of importance.
