Persuasive Speech to Donate Blood

For the majority of you who may not beware, the Red Cross Society is in urgent need of blood donation. Their supply has tremendously lowered in the last few months. As we all know, the Red Cross Society is responsible for providing blood to thousands of hospitals in the United States. The society is the primary supplier of blood to the major hospitals in California and the U.S at large, and therefore, when such a shortage is experienced, we all need to stand out and come in support by donating blood. Currently, thousands of lives are at stake due to the blood shortage that the society is facing. People suffering from diseases such as Anemia and other blood-related ailments have, over many years lost their lives as a result of insufficiency of blood supply (Vincent et al., 2002). Red Cross is experiencing the shortage of blood supply as a result of the reduction in the number of donors. People from all blood groups are invited since the shortage being experienced is uniform across all categories. The Red Cross Society has been faced with an acute shortage of blood supply, and there needs to be an immediate call for action to ensure that people in need of the blood do not perish.

As a result of the sufferings being experienced by people in need of blood, there is the need for us as students to take part in being part of the solution. Many people need to volunteer for this initiative so that enough blood can be donated to the Red Cross Society. However, as willing as donors may be, the World Health Organization (2015) insisted that proper screening procedures must be adhered to ensure the spread of diseases from sick persons to healthy ones. Therefore, I would urge all of us to maintain a healthy lifestyle at the moment by shunning away from any form of behaviors that may jeopardize our health status. By donating blood to the Red Cross Society, several benefits may consequently arise that affect us directly.

By donating blood, we ensure that we save many lives that are a stake in California and across the other states. All lives matter and we must, therefore, put in the effort required to ensure that we try and save these lives. A report by the World Health Organization (2008) emphasized that when we take the first step in donating blood, we form a web of influence that will see other people determined to participate in the donation. The latter means that when we start the forum as a class, we can influence people from the entire school community and have a successful blood drive. Kamhieh-Milz et al. (2016) also conducted a study that established that regular participation in blood donation helps in the reduction of high blood pressure. Therefore, such a favorable impact of blood donation may assist in providing new opportunities related to community health care and new management practices for hypertension. We all need to reduce the incidence of high blood pressure, and therefore, such a discovery should serve as a motivation towards donating blood. Finally, the World Health Organization (2014) established that blood donation initiatives are major contributors of national and international cohesion.

As can be seen, the Red Cross Foundation has been faced with an acute shortage of blood supply, and there needs to be an immediate call for action to ensure that people in need of the blood do not perish. Therefore, it is our responsibility as medical students to take part in this blood donation initiative to ensure that millions of lives are saved. Life is full of surprises, and you may find yourself in the same predicament in future so make an effort and donate blood today and save a life.
