Why recycling is important

1. Plastic waste that floats in the water doesn't surprise modern people. These days, humans pollute water resources by dumping chemicals and non-biodegradable wastes in the water, which is the primary natural resource. There are a lot of trash islands floating in the oceans. Each of them takes the space that is equal to an average country like France.

2. Humanity has already created a lot of artificial mountains. However, unlike mounts that consist of rocks, the new ones are built from non-biodegradable materials like plastic. The territories that are used as landfills cannot be inhabited.

3. The problem of wastes that won't disappear by themselves concerns the entire world. In addition, they pollute the ground, air, and water that are required for living. Recycling is the only reliable way to save the planet and improve the quality of our lives.

4. Looking for ways to enforce mandatory recycling is relevant because most people including corporate have ignored the fact that non-biodegradable substance should not be disposed together with the other biodegradable wastes.

5. From my experience, I have found out that non-biodegradable substances pose a lot of risk to life.

6. These days, people have to pay for bottled water or install expensive filtering systems to drink clean water. In the most polluted cities, inhabitants wear face masks outside and install air purifiers to breathe fresh air in their homes. Unfortunately, the problem is already critical.

4. They lead to contamination of the underground water.

The benefits of making recycling of plastics and other non-biodegradable materials include the following:

- Recycling of non-biodegradable wastes would reduce its amount in the environment and eliminate it in the long run (North & Halden, 2013).

-The volume of waste in waste lands would reduce.

- Landfills would be fully reclaimed if only biodegradable substances are deposited in the sites.

- Reduces the demand for raw materials. Using scrap metal or recycled plastic, people can satisfy some needs for these supplies. Consequently, it will reduce mining, foresting, and oil extraction. It will help conserve raw materials, reduce waste, and save energy.

- All materials need energy to get produced. On average, making products from recycled supplies needs twice less energy than creating new ones from raw materials because there is no need to extract them. Efficient energy consumption can lead to lowered carbon emissions.

- Recycling can save a lot of money. By sorting and recycling materials, people save on the extraction and production of new ones. Also, it eliminates new waste. Otherwise, people will be forced to invest a lot of money into cleaning water resources and landfills in the future.

- It helps create new jobs. The recycling industry needs more employees. It can provide a lot of people with the opportunity to make money.

- It protects the wildlife. Extracting new materials and dumping waste, we destroy the natural environments of mammals, fish, birds, and other creatures. Recycling can save a lot of animals from extinction.

- All the benefits of recycling lead to lowered greenhouse emissions. It can help fight the fast-paced climate changes that can drown some territories and save inhabited lands from desertification.

Conclusion

Non-biodegradable wastes compose most of the waste products in dump sites in many places of the world. The products take a long time without decomposing and affect the life of animals and human beings because of the toxic gasses produced. They pose a significant challenge for governments and environments because most of the standard waste management methods are not effective in dealing with them. Most producers of the products do not take responsibility for the waste because of the economic factors involved in the collection and disposal of the wastes. Therefore, for the government to ensure more responsible management of the wastes, making it mandatory to recycle the wastes can help.
