In the world today, cases of abortion are growing considerably. Economic and social forces have played a significant role in fuelling these cases. In the case of developed nations, abortion serves as an enforceable undertaking, while many developing countries do not allow permission (Gerard 5). The history of abortion is long. Traditionally, abortion crude tools facilitated abortion, although the several advancements realized in the medical field have resulted in changes, which have supported the use of contemporary techniques that involve the use of surgical and medication processes. Based on research, I have realized that different countries have distinct cultural, legal, and religious positions on abortion and its prevalence (Stefan 930). I have also noted that the various ethical principles surrounding abortion and pregnancy removal also differ considerably, hence leading countries to have opposing views concerning the abortion issue as a pro-choice or pro-life. Therefore, in this paper, I will focus on discussing the issue of abortion as a wrong and heartless murder and as an ethical and appropriate undertaking.

Discussion

Before embarking on the issue of abortion, I believe it is worth noting the major issues surrounding the topic. For instance, abortion is a major repercussion associated with unprotected sex. When women or young girls engage in sex without using proper safeguards, they end up developing unwanted pregnancies, which prompt them to result in abortion (Camosy 15). Furthermore, lack of sufficient knowledge concerning sex leaves many individuals vulnerable to engaging in sexual activities, which lead them to become pregnant with undesirable children. Due to the frustrations and fears they develop regarding pregnancy, they look for ways of eliminating it, mostly resulting in abortion (Pollitt 52).

Pro-Life

Abortion serves as a form of brutality carried out to an unborn child. In my situation, I believe that abortion is murder since it denies the unborn baby an opportunity to life. As a religious person, I would not support the act since it leads to loss of life, which only the Almighty provides (Githens and Stetson 56). In addition, I agree that abortion encourages women to be unfaithful. Women would participate in sexual activities outside marriage setting with the notion that they would eliminate the pregnancy easily and continue living their lives as if nothing happened. Moreover, supports irresponsible behavior through providing both men and women opportunities for engaging in sexual activities carelessly. They realize that they can eliminate the pregnancy easily, hence leading them to show less concern toward their sexuality (Tatalovich and Daynes 23).

Abortion also lowers the chances of women getting children later in their lives mostly because it hampers with the uterus or results to total damage. In such a situation, women would lack children later in life when they need them most. Such activities would also result in hormonal imbalances, which would lead women to become barren later in life. Concurrent abortions might also result in medical complications (Githens and Stetson 46). The major complications comprise of repeated miscarriages, sepsis, and uterine infections among other serious problems. The hormones change in such a way that women develop challenges in sustaining the full term for pregnancy since the body becomes used to pregnancy rejection, thus regular miscarriages (Tatalovich and Daynes 84).

Pro-Choice

In support of abortion, I have realized that it provides young women, especially those below 21 years, with opportunities for continuing their education and build their lives. In case a young girl finds herself in a situation where she has to take care of a child, she cannot engage in any other task. She stops pursuing her education to care for the childs needs. However, in case she has an abortion, she would manage to continue learning and realize her educational and career goals ( Halfmann 38).

The issue of health is also worth considering when it comes to abortion. I support that abortion assists women in different health cares. For example, for women having illnesses, such as hypertension, heart disease, or sickle cell anemia, they are capable of avoiding severe medical problems that result from childbirth via abortion. The complications can lead to the death of the mother and the child (Stefan 933). As such, doctors commonly prescribe abortion when they legalize that the mothers life is in jeopardy. The other area I believe abortion needs support is in the case of rape victims. Abortion provides rape victims with an opportunity for getting rid of children who arise from such activities. They would not wish to keep the babies based on the physical trauma they would associate with the child. Here, abortion would serve as the ideal solution in such a situation (Camosy 28).

Conclusion

From my arguments, I conclude that abortion is a religious, moral, and social issue. It affects the lives of individuals both indirectly and directly. Ethical values also emerge out of activities such as abortion, depending on the direction that one selects. Abortion has both benefits and drawbacks, hence a need for devising effective ways of dealing with the issue. In my case, I would recommend the use of safeguards to avoid unwanted pregnancies as well as proper sex education to ensure that individuals are well aware of the repercussions of unprotected sex and the ideal ways of planning their sex life.
