C-diff Infection Introduction
There are various factors that connect the new patient with the patients of Clostridium difficile in the current unit and one of them is placing many patients in the same room; this increases the probability of contacting the disease (SUNY, 2015). The second factor is lack of physician and physical therapist to use the right protective clothing such as gown and gloves while treating the patients. The third factor is the failure by the health professionals to maintain hygiene by washing their hands with warm water and soap after removing the gown. Additionally, there is delays in beginning the process of treatment as the physicians and the physical therapist insists on waiting for the results before beginning treatment of the disease; this increases the spread of the disease. Finally, the physicians refuse to follow the regulations when attending to the patients which encourages the spread of the disease.
In the process of investigating connection between the new patient and other patients there are various departments that need to be investigated for their acts or acts of omission in the provision of healthcare. The first person that needs to be investigated is the internist for his failure to put up measures of preventing, diagnosing and treating the disease; this is blamed for the existing cases of Clostridium difficile in the hospital. The second person to investigate is the nursing supervisor and this is because it is due to the failure of his office to ensure that the physician and physician therapist follow the right procedures when attending to patients with Clostridium difficile. Finally, the registered nurse failed in her duty and is to be investigated for lack of performing his duties and designating the duties to the physicians and physical therapists that led to the spread of the disease (Thompson, 2016).
