Globalization has brought tremendous changes across the globe. This includes immigration, which has resulted in diversity among patients and healthcare workers resultantly making congruent health an obsolete necessity. Like any other field, nursing has to adapt to the practice of corresponding care (Blackford, 2003). Nurses are required to acquire and have an in-depth understanding of cultural differences, practices, and beliefs (Albougami, Pounds, & Alotaibi, 2016). Cultural frameworks in nursing enhance service delivery to diverse populations by providing means to overcome challenges and difficulties when dealing with culturally diverse patients. The frameworks help nurses to have a foundation required for gaining knowledge about different cultures, mainly during healthcare delivery.

Leininger Sunrise Framework

The framework mainly represents the structure for the cultural care primarily by describing the relationship between nursing and anthropological beliefs and principles (Blackford, 2003). The framework is mainly used by nurses when they are making cultural evaluations of patients. Moreover, the model encompasses several aspects of culture, including social, technological, legal, political, philosophical dimensions, social, and financial.

Giger and Davidhizar Transcultural Assessment Mode

The model mainly emphasizes on the importance of considering every individual as unique in his or her culture (Albougami et al., 2016). The six dimensions proposed for this framework that are common in every culture include social organization, time, control, biological variation, and space. Moreover, the framework indicates that the use and preservation of communication mainly take various forms, including written, verbal, and nonverbal.

Purnell Model for Cultural Competence

The framework mainly focuses on giving a foundation for understanding several attributes of another culture allowing healthcare providers to view patients' attributes such as experience and incitements (Blackford, 2003). The dimensions included in this framework are heritage, family roles, bio-cultural, spirituality, death rituals, pregnancy, and nutrition, among others.
