Service learning refers mainly to the teaching that involves students in several ranges of experiences that often benefits the community and others while the student is advancing the goals of the given curriculum - volunteerism id the of providing skills and time to benefit other causes and people instead of financial benefits. Community service is job done by an individual or a group of people for the benefit of others.

The organization was founded in 1982, and it is a certified member of the Feeding America and has a four-star rating from Charity Navigator. The firm distributes fresh meat, produce, and nonperishable and also prepare nutritious meals for children for states it operates in. The organization operates in 18 southeast Texas counties mainly through charity works. The organizations mainly depend on charity and funds from well-wishers to funds its activities. The mission of the Houston Food Bank is to lead the fight against hunger. The organization offers a solution both food waste and hunger. Primarily, it was America's largest feeding food bank in 2015. It distributes 122 million nutritious meals by using its network of about 1,500 community partners to feed about 800,000 people in southeast Texas.
Working at Houston Food Bank
While working at Houston Food Bank is was tasked at working at the nutrition education program. The program mainly addresses hunger and food insecurity through the use if USDA guidelines and materials to achieve the nutritional goals. Primarily, healthy nutrition habits in society reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity and promote health. The duties at the program were to budget for food, coordinate the educator, plan their travel program, secure their classes, determine the groups that will be attended on and ho it will be done. Some of the lessons that were taught in the program included meal planning on a budget, nutritional fact labels, sugar shockers, exercise and stretching, being a healthy role model for children, and eating healthy on a budget.
Teamwork is the effort of a group that has a common goal on the most efficient and effective way. I was involved in several teamwork activities in the program. For instance, I worked with the educators to ensure that they provided a lesson to the learners and that all the events were done correctly. Furthermore, there was a time when the vehicle that was delivering the food products came late. We had to corporate with each other to ensure that all services were offered. Communication is the act of passing meaningful information to a group or an individual through signs, symbols, and semiotic rules. I used to send emails and make phone calls to the educators to track their progress and determine how things were going on. Networking is the process that enables sharing of ideas and information among groups or individuals with the same common interest. I used networking within the firm to come up with the solution to the problems that the organization was facing.
Conclusion
The experience of working in the organization has opened my eyes to how things take place and why they take place. My approach to problems has changed as I now take time to make sure I understand the problem in order to come up with the right decision.
