Apple Inc. is a multinational company that constitutes of several managers at every level. Concisely, the core managerial responsibility is to ensure that every member of a particular department performs as required by the company. Notably, each manager is labeled as either a top-level, first-level, or mid-level manager. Consequently, due to his position as the CEO at Apple Inc. Tim Cook holds the Top-Level managerial position within this firm. As a result, his position requires him to deliver on myriads of responsibilities and expectations. Therefore, in this study, Tim Cooks core duties will be defined considering his management level at Apple, the organizational culture of this company, and the effectivity of this kind of environment.
Timothy D. Cook was born in Alabama State in 1960. He is the seventh sitting CEO position at Apple Inc. Cooks job as a CEO commenced in 2011 after previously serving as the Senior Vice President of global sales and operations within the same company. Therefore, his significant position at Apple has earned him a top-level managers abilities (Biography.com Editors 1). As a result, his position requires him to partake several core responsibilities. First, Cook is an active participant in defining the policies, plans, and objectives of the entire organization. Also, he ensures to assemble and put into proper practice all the available resources within Apples reach. Additionally, Cook spends a lot of his working time coming up with new ideas, planning for them, and deciding on the best ways of putting them into practice. Also, Tim Cook ensures to organize Apple well, lay down proper plans for both the future and the present. Notably, some of the plans he is laying down are bound to serve this company for at least 5-20 years. Moreover, due to his immense conceptual skills, Tim Cook is regarded as the top authoritative officer at Apple. Therefore, he has the final say in this organization (Biography.com Editors 1). Importantly, Cook takes direct responsibility and answers to the General public, Government, and Shareholders. In essence, Tims managerial decisions and efficiency as the acting CEO substantially determines the success and failure of Apple.
Notably, Apple has always operated with a particular culture. In this company excellence, moderate combativeness, innovation, secrecy, and creativity define Apples environment from service delivery to the products offered to the clients (Meyer 1). Significantly, Steve Jobs passion and creativity commenced this culture which has continued to date, thus leading to the remarkable excellence and success within the entire organization. Nevertheless, this culture has resulted to several merits and demerits within Apple. Due to the desperate need for excellence, innovation, and creativity apples culture have nurtured and grown excellent industrial leaders including Tim Cook. On the other hand, due to an empowered human resource this firm has managed to acquire a substantial competitive advantage over its other competitors. Also, due to a rapidly growing, innovative process, Apple manages to be ahead of other competing companies (Meyer 1). Nonetheless, the organizational culture at Apple suffers from several setbacks. Apparently, due to secrecy and moderate combativeness employees experience rapport limitations. Moreover, worker morale is limited due to the existing reasonable combativeness amongst them. Therefore, significant changes are yet to be seen at Apple due to the existing setbacks resulting from the organizational culture that was started by Steve Jobs.
In essence, the above discussion shows that managerial jobs come with different levels and positions. Tim Cooks current position at Apple elaborates that top-level managers are not only expected to plan but also strategies and while ensuring that that all the companys goals and objectives are acquired. Nonetheless, the existing organizational culture at Apple results to several advantages and disadvantages. Concisely, due to this environment, major changes is limited while at the same time Apple has a significant competitive ability and has nurtured excellent leaders.
